Breaking the curfew. Does anyone have any experience?

Featured Replies

General question to the membership.

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of anyone caught breaking the curfew?

My sister-in-law phone around 11-12 last night to say she had just got a taxi to take her home and hasn't been heard of since.

I haven't read or heard anything about breaking the curfew and any penalties.

Anyone have any facts on the matter?

thx

No difference - was out in town at clubs on sat night till 3 am taxi home was fine - no one cares

Motorbike taxi picked me up at 1am. Lots of other people on the roads at that time, and several bars open.

I was at a Bar in Ayudhya when first we were told by Police to go inside the bar if we wanted to keep drinking. 10 minutes later when the soldiers with guns arrived and told us to go home, we promptly did so.

Owner was fined 500 Baht, and told that for a second offence it would be 20,000 Baht and 10 days in jail.

The Police were apologetic but said the Army was running things now.

i can't see why the disappearance of the op's sister-in-law would be curfew related but hope she's ok...

probably just fell asleep at her friend/boyfriend's place and phone battery died or something...

good luck tracking her down

For all intents and purposes there is no curfew. There is certainly no "shoot to kill" curfew or anything resembling it. The authorities might use it against someone they want for some reason, in which case you won't see it or hear about it. That doesn't sound like your sister-in-law. I hope she turned up?

You actually think you have a right (or indeed a right to worry) about where a Thai person is? Your obviously just off some banana boat. Thais wander around like lost soles at the best of times and wouldn't think for 1 single second to tell somebody where they where curfew or no curfew. Thai are just not built like us mate. She''ll turn up, probably not alone ha ha ha!!

Been breaking the curfew every night no problems.

Good luck. Keep us posted on your clandestine forays.

Yes, lost soles wander around. That's why they're called 'lost soles' actually.

Can you get me the Taxi number----My wife has been driving me F*****g nut's the last few weeks,

the best way to guarantee a thai gets from A to B is to take them there on the back of your bike.

I'd be more concerned about the taxi driver rather than the curfew in this instance. You are in Bangkok?

Yesterday curfew was at 12 so if she got in taxi no curfew I call the Army no wait the Police

Here is one that evaded curfew...we are looking for it now...

The curfew seems to be being observed in Ubon. The first night I didn't hear a single vehicle on the road after 10, the next few days people were out a little past the curfew but it was still dead here by 22:30.

I think they've just been giving warnings and telling people to go home here but I heard if you were picked that it would cost 40k to get out. I haven't heard of that happening to anyone though.

Drove from chuang rai to chon buri though the night , arrived home at 1.30pm .Had no trouble at all

So very true and when I met her, we have had a jolly time since.

Wow! So you know my rights?

You make me feel so stupid for caring and asking a civil question.

You're so right, my banana boat berthed here 12 years ago.

BTW, I've seen quite a lot of those 'lost soles' around Bangkok in my time. They just don't make shoes like they used to, do they?

Thanks for your input.

Great. A farang who's the expert on all things Thai.

you mean we have been allowed to go out of our homes, I thought we had to stay inside

I would say their are a lot of soles answering your post a lot of ARSEsouls very unsympathetic hope she turns up.

I went outside for a pee the other night, when i got back in the bed,i thought"so that's how carlos the jackal must have felt".

the military strutting around now, come across as pretty arrogant. I saw one today in a cafe his feet up on the table and his hands behind his head.

it reminds me if the jacket fever new inspectors suffered in the casino

How many beer's tonight mate, jacket fever? Do enjoy your ramblings though.

<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Been breaking the curfew every night no problems.

And when you get caught no doubt you'll be back here claiming it's all unfair because you hadn't yet finished your beer and expecting some magic idea to get out of trouble.

What a heel to talk about lost soles! This is a trick question, right? Admit you are out after curfew? Then if they get bored can come by and pick you up? I don't think so. Even paranoids can have real enemies....
