My friend who has a Thai girlfriend applied for a UK Visit visa on the 22nd April and she is still waiting for the Email to tell her that that a decision has been made and her documents are waiting to be picked up in Bangkok.

They had asked for the visa to cover 4 months because she has to return back to Thailand in September due to business commitments and expected the decision to be made within 15 working days, but by monday, it will have been 6 weeks since the application was made, so if the application does go in my friends girlfriends favor and she hears next week, it will mean that she will have lost a 3 weeks of her UK Holiday.

My friend had contacted the helpline and was told that , we would like to let you know that your visa application has been processed and you should receive an email from your visa application centre very soon. We hope that this has answered your query That was dated Tuesday 27th May.

as you can guess, My friend is getting a little frustrated now with waiting, So i am asking, Why are Visitors visa's taking so long now and is anyone else also waiting for a decision to be made.

According to the latest (March) UKVI figures, 99% of general visit visa applications were decided within 15 working days.

However, as that shows, some applications can and do take longer to decide.

This can be for a number of reasons, but the most common is waiting for a reply from a third party; such as confirmation from an employer that the applicant is being given the necessary time off from their job and that it will be held open for their return.

Less likely is a referral to the UK for a decision. This can be for a number of reasons; the most extreme being due to some irregularity in the applicant's immigration history.

I cannot say, obviously, exactly why this particular application has been held up.

Hi Malct. I cannot say for sure but from personal experience with my ladys application that your one is back already and sitting there in VFS. My lady like you was waiting we had no e mail like you and she went to the Trendy office and it had been back a week. According to many people she spoke to there it was quite common and problems with the new uk visa applation system. Suggest your lady goes there mate.

Cheers Jim

Thank you both for your reply s, I have told my friend to contact the help line again in Bangkok and not just send out a standard reply.

My Friends GF lives up in Isaan and it would be a gamble just to turn up at Bangkok to see if her documents are ready for collection.

At the time, they were not aware of a delivery service for the return of the Documents.

I did the same mate but I guarantee you will be told the same and they recommend you will be told not to go but if you want to go up to you. The enquiry line is flawed. Its based now in the Uk and outsourced. All they do is look at a screen. I bet its ready mate I may be wrong but with past experience I dont think I am. Best of luck

My wife applied for a 6 month Family Visit Visa and attended VFS Bangkok on Thursday 15th May.

She has just received the "UKVI have made a decision" email at lunchtime Thai time, today, 3rd June.

It says documents are available for collection 2 working days from today.

Sorry to hear that, if your friend, or you on his behalf, care to post the details we may be able to advise on the way forward.

If you do, malct, I suggest a new topic as it could easily be missed in this one.

My condolences to your friend and his girlfriend.
