Just looking for any helpful advice from anybody with experience in obtaining a UK visa for a Thai spouse. I lived in Thailand for 13 months 9 of those months me and my girlfriend stayed together. Having returned to the UK to have a better future career and live in Thailand full time. I am hating the fact now me and my girlfriend are separated. We both do not have much money, she works in a restaurant in BKK and gets 8000 baht a month, currently I am un-employed. This will not be for a long period of time, but when I am employed I will be looking at 2-300 pound a week take home. She was always paid in cash and did not keep it in the bank, me living in Thailand I do not have any UK bank statements. I heard the previous 6 months bank statements will be required to show funds and source of income. My parents have 3 propertys in the uk and my Mum will be willing to be a guarantor. If there is any advice on how she will be successful in obtaining this visa without having to wait 6 months to prove bank statements please let me know.

First of all have a read through this uk-visit-visa-basics then have a read through the other questions on this Forum, this question has been asked numerous times.

Your girlfriend needs to satisfy the Entry Clearance Officer that her visit is genuine, affordable and that, on the balance of probability, she will return to Thailand at the conclusion of her holiday.

You don't need to be rich to successfully apply for a visa and there's nothing wrong with your mother sponsoring your partner, but your partner will need to convince the ECO of her reasons to return. A letter confirming her employment and that her job will be available for her on her return from holiday.

Feel free to come back if you have any more questions.

The sticking point I suspect will be producing convincing evidence that her job will be available on her return. The reality is holidays for restaurant workers are not the norm. 10 days off a year if they are lucky. I suspect she would leave her job for an extended holiday in UK and then return and find another 8000 per month job easily enough. Convincing the ECO that this is her intention is the difficulty.
