Apart from Scotland, it's unlikely that any further fragmentation will happen. Wales would probably vote no in a similar referendum, and Northern Ireland remains majority unionist and Cornwall's separatist movement barely exists.

Before you Scots jump up and down ,i have nothing against you ,as far as i am concerned you are British ,but you will never vote for independance , turkeys never vote for christmas. except the stupid ones.

amazed at the amount of clueless people on here that feel they have the right to comment on scotlands independence, when clearly dont have a scoobie.. making comments about william wallace <deleted>, clearly shows you know nothing about scottish people and how we feel about this...i am a proud scot, i am also happy being called british,,,BUT, i dont believe that scotland should be run by another country...im not anti-english, im just sick and tired of our country being run by absolute morons, content in taking over scotlands wealth and getting us into more and more debt by squandering money on pointless things like the EU , and millions of immigrants and every tom dick and harrish being allowed in to bleed the country dry... I have also lived in countries such as Denmark, same population as scotland, without the same amount of oil, tourism and fishing industry that scotland has, and Denmark in my opinion is a well run country (with its faults) like everywhere else though....i dont see any reason why scotland cant be an independent nation, and a wealthy and succesful one at that...I´ve spoken with many people that wont vote yes, basically because they think Salmond is a pompous <deleted>...this is not just about Salmond, but at least someone is getting off their backside and doing what he thinks is right for scotland...time to take a chance and go it alone, whether right or wrong, im sure we can become a better place and a place that can provide a better future for our next generation...once thats accomplished, then we can maybe get a better football team then start on the weather ;-)

Nice to see that Russia is taking an interest in Scotland, but what is Sweden's agenda in all this?

Well, it is no secret that Cameron has been trying to get support from across Europe for the No vote, so it should be no surprise that the 'Swedish David Cameron' should come to his aid so enthusiastically. He was certainly happy to pursue Julian Assange at Obama's order.

There are probably some Scottish people here who can speak for themselves but I`ve spoken to a handful of Scots up here in rural side of Udon Thani, and they all expressed excitement over the independence. They also said they would like to join the Nordic Council, and even becoming part of Scandinavia. I`m Norwegian and I would say that in the long run this is probably a good idea for both Scotland and the Scandinavian countries. Both parts have resources. I personally think Scotland have undiscovered oil. There are at leased 20 billion barrels of oil in the North Sea (£1,5 trillion) according to early 2013 numbers. I know Norway found two new big fields late 2013, both quite close to Scotland. Scotland already have a steady economy, but I think Scotland will flourish from an independence. Partnering up with and enjoying benefits from Scandinavia will do good for Scotland, but also for the Scandinavian countries as Scotland has things Scandinavia wants.

Correct - but the oil is only a bonus. According to the Office for National Statistics, Scotland has the best educated population in the World. An even greater drive on our education is the future.

What about the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, Shetland, Angelsey, the Hebrides, even Yorkshire maybe ? ;)

The Isle of Man and Channel Islands are already not part of the UK..

Maybe the East End of London. It already feels like a different country.

They're part of the sterling area, and have HM The Queen as head of state, and I believe their residents use UK passports. The big difference is that they collect and disburse their own taxes -- not a bad model for Scotland ;)
