Bicycles in Bangkok

Featured Replies

Could not believe what I saw today, it's possible to rent Bicycles for Cycling around the city ??? Honestly Amsterdam Yes, but Bangkok, gosh no, that's a death sentence for sure...

I do like the idea and I love Cycling, but never here in the City...

Maybe there is some brave individuals out there but I ain't one of them for sure..

Lovely to get out in the fresh air and exercise with a nice calm and peaceful tour around the beautiful city in the safety of the bicycle lanes free from the chaotic traffic.

Bike rides around Phra Pradaeng / Bang Krachoa are great as well- highly recommended.

But no, haven't been tempted to hire a bike from one of those stops and try city cycling... certainly not around where I live where traffic lights seem like a suggestion sometimes rather than a law. Seen too many accidents and too many people die on the road sadly.

I ride a bicycle in Chiang Mai every day, but would never do it in downtown Bangkok.

Considering the traffic fatalities in Thailand....Treasure your life. You only live once:)

Outside city hall and in a few other places you can get a bike for free to cycle around for the day, I see most of the people that use them green rental bikes ride on the sidewalk.

I personally wouldn't cycle around Bangkok streets but I do sometimes rent a bike in the parks and cruise around.

I ride my bike to work in traffic everyday. But I would never get on one of those green bikes and into Bangkok traffic. Death wish. Riding all the way over on the left and "conservatively" is too dangerous IMO, too much going on over there. You need to be out where the motorcycles are or even staking your place in a lane. More often than not, I can go faster than the cars. When I don't I just move over so they can pass me on both sides.
