Grabtaxi sent me an email announcing a new car service but without prices. The estimated fare they showed me for a long trip had a 200 baht differential 350-500 baht. Look at this Facebook conversation:

What are the exact charges for Grabcar? How much does it cost?

Thanks for your question.

There is a base fare plus the distances and the time of use

The fare will be calculate with Grabcar Meter that you can easily see when you take a ride.

You can also see the estimated fare from your app before you confirm the booking ka.
Are you keeping the base fare pus the distance and time of use a secret from your customers? That is truly ridiculous!
I'll just stick with Uber. Thanks
And so will anybody with any sense

The base fare starts from 45 baht ka.

We are still in beta and will optimize the rates based on our users feedback and demand.

So what's the car service? Is it meant to be more like a limo service than standard taxis?

Taxi app just sends you an estimate doesn't it? I mean, I get that a car service should probably have a set price- looks like they're trying to put the meter service into the car transport arena... might save money, hard to tell without many details.

I use Grabtaxi all the time and find them very reliable. I needed a taxi to Suvarnabhumi and one wasn't available so they called me to say that they were sending a Toyota Camray (big thing no meter) and fixed the price for me at 219 baht. biggrin.png Give them a chance to get this Grabcar thing right and I am sure it will be good.

I downloaded the Uber app but you have to register and give your credit card details or use Paypal to get an account. w00t.gif

"The fare will be calculate with Grabcar Meter that you can easily see when you take a ride."

You obviously missed this part where you were told the fare would be metered.
