Best ferry to get to Samui?

Featured Replies

I'm guessing it's Seatran or Lampayha? because they drop you at Nathorn Pier.

I've heard if you take one of those ferries you can grab a songthaew to your chosen destination.

Is it true that there are only taxis available at Lipe Pier if you take the Raja ferry?

Thank you

Just avoid using Songserm transport services including bus and fast ferry.

They have a horrible reputation for theft of valuables from luggage and I can attest to this from personal experience when they pilfered our luggage in the bus baggage compartment and got off with my leatherman and other tools. Other passengers made similar discoveries.

Regards

I just got the Seatran ferry yesterday..

You can jump in a Songtaew on the pier.

60 baht to Chaweng, not sure about other places.

I always use Seatran as they go directly to central Naton. However Raja is ok, but about 5 klm from Naton. Both leave from Don Sak.

The last time i used Raja was about 5 yrs ago and the condition of the boat was not the best. However i find that Seatrans boats are always clean comfortable and up to date. Both run hourly service.

I use the ferry an average 3 times per month and will only use Seatran. It does pay to pre book if one has a car, but not necessarily a must.At times they are very busy and one could have to wait several hours.

Thanks, I'll go with Seatran.

If you use Raja they now have a minibus service which takes you anywhere on Samui for a fixed price of 200 baht per person. ( inclusive of luggage) My friend used this service and was dropped off at a resort in Lamai.

Generally best to tell them you want the mini bus service when buying boat ticket....

Lomprayah ferry provides the same service....

About time they sorted out transport from there, it used to be hell if you were travelling independently arriving at 7pm with no transport available.

Lomprayah is great if you want a fast, smooth and comfortable ride with polite and helpful staff.

They have a 150 baht minibus service to take you anywhere in Samui too.

Actually it varies, on transport drop off at hotels, depending on time of year.... some times it is a free ride, as a promotion....

One needs to check the ferry websites to see what is on offer.... It usually involves pre-booking one or two days in advance...or at least at time of buying ticket at the counter but that can vary too... wink.png
