In accordance with ThaiVisa policy, topics of this nature are posted for information purposes, then closed preventing further discussion.

Isn't this a forum? Are the members here not adult enough to discuss inteligently or are the moderators to lazy to "MODERATE" and remove offensive material.

Wikipedia

An Internet forum is a facility on the World Wide Web for holding discussions

Has the thai cybercop now got shares in TV.. come on, just because the moderators and all the old hands here have posted previously regarding a subject now means that some newcomers might not have something intelligent to say?

I agree. I always have a problem on threads being closed, and have complained in the past, but have had little or no satisfactory explanations.

On one recent occasion, I was informed that a thread had been closed because a member had requested it to be closed - but the member who made the request was not the OP. Very strange.

There was one thread that I actually requested to be closed - but that was because someone was in real danger - but that's another story, and I would imagine is a rare occurrence.

Now see how quickly this thread is closed. :o

I expect it will be closed as discussion of moderation issues are against forum rules.

It has been said before ... if you don't like how it is done then spend your own $$ time effort etc and set up a forum to your own liking.

There is very little that is against the rules ... but debating the rules will get you no-where

Jdinasia.

I thought discussion meant giving your opinions, I give mine you give yours, or should every one who has a different opinion to you just go away?

Now there is an interesting thought that would make for a really mind numbing forum..

I am not against threads being closed persay, however I thought the use of the "to prevent discussion" was rather apt thats all..

Please feel free to give me any opinions you have on anything I promise I won't tell you to go away if I am not in agreement.

I presume the thread you are talking about is the american man caught abusing minors? Thaivisa admin & mods made the descision to not allow these child abuse/paedo threads to continue further than to post information, as EVERY thread of a similar nature in the past has turned into a flame fest & created a lot of work for the moderating tream, usually resulting in someone being suspended & several warnings.

But as another poster mentioned, discussion of moderating is against the rules so.......

Feel free to mail the admin if this explaination isn't sufficient.

Boo, apologies for reopenning this thread but being the Pattaya forum mod I just wanted to add my bit.

Folks, pedos and the likes make good news, there is always a lot of interest and if thaivisa was solely after hits these threads would be left open as they generate a lot of hits.

But in reality, we do not want the lynch mod attitude that always shows itself with these threads.

We are not hiding anything, we are not protecting anyone other then the families of members.

Thaivisa is a "G" rated forum.

We have discussed whether we need to post these news stories at all, but in the interest of the community it is important to make it known the kind of predators that are out there, but we do not want slag fests. I myself have a lot to say about these people, but none of it is positive, and none of it I would want my children to read. We are better off teaching our children about "Stranger Danger" than spending time on an internet forum telling everyone what we would do if it happened to our kids.

So please understand that we will continue to post the news, but we will also use discretion when allowing replies.

Thanks so much for your understanding.

Cheers

tuky
