Missing lottery tickets emerge in Wang Sapoong district of Loei

BANGKOK: -- Some of the 42,800 lottery tickets which went missing in Ayutthaya province about a week ago have emerged in Wang Sapoong district of Loei province.

It was reported that several lottery vendors bought the missing lottery tickets from dealers at the lottery bazaar in Wang Sapoong district on June 19 without knowing that they were reported to have gone missing from a post office in Ayutthaya province.

But when they did a careful check of the lottery tickets they bought, they found out that several of the tickets were identical to those reported missing and lodged complaints with the police in Wang Sapoong district whose many residents work part-time as lottery vendors in Bangkok.

The missing lottery tickets coincided with an announcement of the National Council for Peace and Order to overhaul the lottery distribution system in order to tackle the lottery overpricing problem.

Ms Chan Rimchit said she bought 200 tickets from a dealer whom she knew for a long time at 93 baht apiece. But later on she found out that all the tickets were the ones which were reported missing.

Another vendor, Mrs Chaleo Somboon, said 50 of the 200 tickets she bought from the lottery bazaar in Wang Sapoong district, the biggest of its kind in the country, were those reported missing. She further said that she would reclaimed the fund from the dealer.

Surely if you made a living buying and selling lottery tickets, you would make yourself aware of the numbers of any reported stolen tickets?...and not buy them.

Surprise Surprise... said Gomer pyle....

This story further shows the depth of the middleman in the selling of lottery tickets. Dealers at a lottery bazaar. No wonder they are priced so high for the end buyer. Millions of Baht going straight into the pockets of middlemen & I wonder how many of them are connected to higher ups. Now that would be an interesting list of names to see.

" lodged complaints with the police in Wang Sapoong district whose many residents work part-time as lottery vendors in Bangkok" this is the bit I don't really get .. they travel the 6 hour bus ride from Loei to sell tickets part time in Bangkok?????
