Metro Police pushes on with drug suppression

BANGKOK, 27 June 2014 (NNT) – The Metropolitan Police Bureau is determined to continue cracking down on narcotic drugs and is looking to involve all related agencies in the mission.

On the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief Pol Maj Gen Itthipol Piriyapinyo stated that efforts to eradicate narcotic substances had been ongoing and fewer culprits were being found compared to the past. Arrests have been made for 27,000 drug-related cases during October 2013-April 2014, a decline from 38,000 cases during the same months a year earlier.

According to Pol Maj Gen Itthipol, the anti-drug policy adopted by the National Council for Peace and Order has remarkably increased the efficiency of the suppression efforts. The officials’ strategy is currently focused on intercepting drug dealers in order to trace back to the drug lords behind the networks.

As for drug problems plaguing correctional facilities, the Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief admitted that although many prison searches had been carried out, prison drug rings still existed and the clampdown would need to continue in a more integrated manner.

Less arrest this year does not mean less drugs or less people committing drug related crimes. More chance it means bigger payoffs to more police.

THE WAR ON DRUGS IS INTO ITS 43RD YEAR BECOMING A VERY POOR JOKE!hit-the-fan.gif.pagespeed.ce.6UelFDbFNJ.

This is what comes from depending on a government to control our behavior.
We end up with a Nanny, and an open invitation to interfere directly in our personal lives.
Unless we ask directly for help, they have no right to force it on us, killing and jailing innocent people in the process.
***Sixty thousand Mexican men, women and children have died since 2006 trying to stop drugs from getting to addicts in USA, INSANITY!
Each individual has the right to happiness even if we harm ourselves, that is our business, not some Nanny government!
-If we threaten to harm someone else, like driving under the influence that is governments business to protect citizens!

I'll bet that most commenter's here who think we need a Nanny to control the public's behavior, are those alcoholic hypocrites we always hear from?crazy.gif.pagespeed.ce.dzDUUqYcHZ.gif Yup burp.gif.pagespeed.ce.RBpw6FUyRR.gif Do as I say not as I do, and they don't even get the connection!

Really? You are suppressing drug use among the general population yet the jails are out of control? I think you are kidding yourselves. But I am happy to see you are getting a nice pat on the back even if it comes from your own statistics.

If you really want to get rid of the Al Capone's of the world you need to eliminate their income. The only way this can be done is for the state to become the supplier. This way rehabilitation comes hand in hand with the business. WAKEUP, please!!

Thaksin already proved the futility of the heavy hand.
