SYDNEY: -- AS a power outage at Sydney Airport continues to strand hundreds of passengers, Virgin has taken the extraordinary step of telling passengers to not even bother showing up.

People were facing major delays this morning after a power failure at 8.30am shut down Terminal Two.

Domestic passengers on Virgin, Jetstar and Tiger Airways flights are stranded after all passenger processing facilities failed. Qantas is unaffected.

A Virgin spokeswoman said while it cannot yet provide details of how many flights and passengers are affected by the blackout, it is advising its passengers to “refrain from turning up to Sydney Airport at this time.”
