I agree, 20 people on the tabien baan is excessive. :o

chaps, it is common for women the world over to get help with the kids from their mother. Lay off the comments about taking care of the kids herself, I imagine she does but likes having her mum around to take the load off sometimes. A toddler & a new baby are ###### hard work.

I am not saying that this gives the inlaws any rights over the house or to take over but without a husband at home every night, I'd imagine she likes the company & security of having family close.

I totally understand that. I've seen first hand what's involved with 2 youngsters at once, and certainly, during his absences, Mum would be grand to have around.

However, it's the other 19 on the tabien baan that I'd be most concerned about.

:o:D

It's very common in Thailand to have people listed on the Tabien Bahn that don't actually live there. To deal with officialdom, Thais need a registered address. I doubt very much if there is anywhere near twenty people living at the house.

That's certainly true, Sir Burr, but as the tambien baan is such a crucial document for literally dozens of issues from schooling to taxes to liscenses to hospital care to voting to etc etc etc., that I would be quite very apprehensive about having so many on "mine." (granted it's not really "his").

However, it's the other 19 on the tabien baan that I'd be most concerned about.

Me too... have you asked who these others are? And what relationship they have to your missus? And what is the reason for their names being on it? And why shouldn't it just be in your missus name?

It only costs about 150 baht at the local land office to do a name transfer.

There are many issues in your situation tuky... and if I were in your position, I'd try to address and resolve them one at a time.

The little blue book could be the start.

It would also give the rest of the clan a headsup on the fact that you are going to take control in the future... and not be used as a doormat.

If I can help in any way buddy... I will.

Taoism: shit happens

Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit

Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah

Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it

Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us?

Atheism: I don't believe this shit

What's happened to Tuky, has he committed harakiri already? :o:D
