Colonoscopy- need best price for good "job"- 2014

Featured Replies

HI!

I read Sheryl's post about the best price (and I trust Sheryl) for a colonoscopy, written back a few years (2011?). It was St Louis Hospital. At that time around 13,000, including overnight-before stay in non-private room. Their price now is 30,000- not including room. (I just called.) I am alone and from out of town, so I would do the room in hosp night before and don't really care if it is private. or would take a decent hotel practically across the street from said hospital or clinic. But would like better price than 30,000 if possible. I do not speak thai, do not have friends who speak thai here to middle man for me and don't know the ropes here well. I live in Bali. Nope you wouldn't want to do it there.I just do need to be able to manage communications by myself with said hospital or clinic and am trying to save money/ do not want to go to most expensive tourist hospitals.

I have no symptoms but am almost 60 and my father got coon cancer so figure I should do this. Wahoo.

Would super appreciate recommendations. Thanks very much in advance!

An overnight stay is not mandatory, it can easily be done on an outpatient basis - the cost for upper and lower endoscopy in Chiang Mai was THB 20k a year ago, it can't be much more today. I had both done about two years ago and I was in and out within four hours.

A year ago in Korat Bangkok hospital cost was 13,000.Out patient basis.

Lefty

This place is currently the best option other than a govt hospital - I think about 10 - 12K all inclusive (except for any needed biospsies) and you can set it all up by phone. Request either Dr. Varicha or Dr. Rungson, both are excellent and among the most eminent GI specialists in the country.

I had one done there myself just a few months ago. I don't remember the exact cost but it was far less than any of the private hospitals.

I don't know what on earth got into the St Louis GI clinic but indeed they tried the same 30K nonsense on me (it did include the room, and I think a suseless "VIP" one at that, but as even taking that out the amount would still be outrageous, I did not bother to negotiate and just went elsewhere.)

Vachirarongkorm or very similar spelling ... a government hospital ...my wifes family doctor is the guy there and is called Dr Somboon.

He has him own clinic in Nonthaburi ...

PM me for more info ...he is a very nice guy...you wont find any where cheaper ...he also teaches at that hospital.
