ISOC watching out for attacks in Deep South toward the end of Ramadan

BANGKOK, 4 July 2014 (NNT) – The Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) has ordered security officials working in the Deep South to be especially on guard during the last ten days of the Ramadan fasting month, as insurgents hold the belief that attacks toward the end of the Ramadan period would earn them more merit than at other times.

According to Colonel Banphot Phunphien, the ISOC's spokesperson, the situation in the southern border provinces has been orderly. However, statistics indicate that the insurgents often choose to strike during the last ten days of Ramadan because they believe they would earn much more merit this way.

Army Area 4 commanding-general Walit Rochanaphakdi has asked religious leaders to foster correct understanding about the belief. He has also ordered security personnel to implement additional security measures during the said period.

What merit?...a metal for Valor while shooting a innocent dedicated teacher, mother, and wife in the back as she rides home from teaching their children...?

All countries of the world are entirely to lenient with these animals...there should be a crack military unit in S. Thailand that relentlessly and systematically hunts down these thugs and brings them in for a swift form of justice...

If found guilty...send them hell where they belong!

"insurgents often choose to strike during the last ten days of Ramadan because they believe they would earn much more merit this way." They really get cranky when they've gone three weeks almost without some daylight nosh. Uh, hemm.... Muslims don't "make merit"..... shows deep understanding on differences in religion by author.

I was talking with Thai friend today. I think military should provoke South to be more cantankerous. Why? Look at Egypt: US hasn't even admitted a coup happened there! I reckon because of fear of Muslim radicals. Doesn't give a gosh darn what level of human rights abuses the government whacks the locals with. Like ISIS but with show trials. So get yourself off tier 3, get back that piddling amount of military aid (hey, more problems in South = more military aid). "An enemy of my enemy is my friend".
