Just found out that Fantasea is a night time entertainment happening.

Are there similar activities to do during the day time, for families.

Any advise and/or tips are appreciated.

My suggestions:

- Elephant trekking

- Drive to Phang Nga Bay (or get a tour bus), take the long tail boat ride to James Bond island, or go kayaking (some operators will paddle for you if there's young children)

- Dino Park in Kata Beach

- Half day snorkelling/ relaxation on Coral Island

- Have lunch by the seaside on Soi Parlai after the Phuket Zoo

- Check with Laguna resort to see if they have kiddy stuff going on while you sip on cocktails

Enjoy!

I think that Fantasea show will maybe a bit to much for 4 year olds..Its pretty loud and flashy with lots of things happening. And I do not think they could sit through it all. I would find a baby sitter and just go your self as it is a great show. The buffet was not the best in my opinion :o

I went to Fantasea last night and it was a great show, the kids will love it. :D

My only regret was we turned down the dinner offer there and I took the family to "Baan Rim Pa", Nice settings, good tasting food but IMO not anywhere near good enough for just under bht4000 for 2 adults and 2 kids! Just did'nt feel classy or special enough. :o

Lady in Red,

Besides just looking at it, what else does the James Bond island offer? Does one rent his own long tail or is it all organised and how much is it?

Dino Park sounds like fun and how's the Phuket Zoo, sounds like a plan.

You could also go to the aquarium. Lots of fish to look at and they now have a small walk through aquarium section as well.

I would agree that elephant trekking is great for kids. I know a really lovely place that has a beautiful view over Kata.

Limbos,

James Bond island is more interesting for adults than young kids as it is just a sight seeing trip. The only thing it offered for kids is the enjoyment of being outdoors.

You can rent your own long tail if you drive to the pier by yourself, it's around 600 baht per boat, pack in as many people as you want to share the costs.

If you book a half day tour with a tour agent it will cost 1,500 baht (can't remember). They take you on the bus, arrange the boat, etc. You will be back in Phuket by about 3pm.

I will only recommend James Bond Island if your kids are not startled by loud engine noises. A one way trip is about 20-30 minutes. If you decide to do this, bring a towel/ cushion to sit on, and snacks, toys, etc. to keep the kids occupied.

I think Dino Park will be a hit with your kids.

As for Phuket Zoo I've never been inside there myself because I hear there's only caged animals. I prefer the 'real stuff' like safaris.

There's some safaris near the zoo where you can get elephant trekking. Then stop by the rows of restaurants overlooking Chalong bay (at the end of Parlai Road) for lunch, etc.

Snake farms are also interesting for kids. And like Goldenbead mentioned, the aquarium is also worth checking out. It's small, but helps to occupy a few hours in the afternoon.
