The Masters of Swing: Centara World Masters Golf Championship 2014

HUA HIN:-- The culmination of the inaugural Centara World Masters Golf Championship 2014 took place poolside at the Centara Grand Beach Resort on the evening of Friday 20th June.

This followed four days of golf competition at four regional Golf Course; Banyan, Black Mountain, Majestic Creek and Imperial Lakeview.

This night was a celebration of the Event’s success, with prize presentations, a sumptuous dinner and live entertainment.

The mood of the evening was one of exuberance and jubilation. Our conversations with the party-goers were laced with lavish praise of the organisers and the quality of the golfing, competition and the social scene. “Everything has been perfect” was a common comment.

The Hawaiian theme of the evening meant that vivid colours and hula dancing were everywhere. Many nationalities were present from every continent including those from India, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Taiwan, and Singapore apart from Thai people.
The event attracted 500 golfers who travelled to Hua Hin from 23 countries, representing 193 golf clubs. The most visible (and vocal) party goers were Australians with something like 40% of the golfers hailing from ‘down under’. The only problem for the organisers with a large Australian contingency was to under estimate the ‘beer budget’. Why so many Australians?
Apart from a history of 18 years of managing this competition in Australia, holding the Event at this time of the year meant that Australians could escape the winter at home. It does get cold in Australia!
Local promoters and businesses concerned about the low season please take note! Australians love golf, to compete and to party. The winners? With 15 tournament divisions based on age and handicap; too many to list!
