Legal Negotiation Centre Now Open in Hua Hin

Legal-Negotiation-Centre-Now-Open-in-Hua

HUA HIN:-- The Attorney General of Prachuap Khirikhan and the Hua Hin Municipality have opened a centre for legal negotiation to deal with cases between public officers, Thai people and foreigners. The opening ceremony, on 10th June 2014 was attended by the Attorney General Mr. Rewat Suksiri from the Office of the Attorney General 7 and the Deputy Hua Hin Mayor Ms. Phailin Kongphan.

Located at the main lobby of the Division of Legal Affairs on the 3rd floor of Hua Hin Municipality, the Centre will be responsible for mediating or resolving disputes and conflicts between local people and public offices including those related to H Personal and public criminal matters H Advice about legal problems prior to prosecution or filing a law H Drafting legal agreements about land titles and property H Providing legal advisors and lawyers in cases of legal prosecution.
Mr. Rewat said that the Centre would consider all legal matters and cases of legal prosecution to reduce this responsibility for police officers. Previously, anyone who had legal problems would go to a Hua Hin Police Office where cases had to be forwarded to public prosecutors who are mainly responsible for considering whether to proceed to court or not.
The Centre allows for these cases to taken care of directly by legal officers who can also work as mediators mange the dispute. “Hua Hin has many civil and other legal cases between local people and public offices as well as between Thais and foreigners. Most cases concern property, land and business ownership.
Anyone who has problems with these matters can come to the Centre and seek for advice from our legal specialists before deciding to proceed with legal prosecution,” added Mr. Rewat. According to the Attorney General, Thailand has used community representatives or mediators such as village heads, community leaders, district chiefs or provincial governors to solve conflicts between people since the reign of King Chulalongkorn.
Police officers are now facing too much work with legal problems, which is not their major task leaving insufficient to complete their responsibilities.
Realising the advantages of negotiations, the Office of the Attorney General has bring back this method and promote it at all provincial offices. Centres for legal negotiation are expected to be launched in all Thailand Provinces.
