Not wishing to pay any disrespect to "Grayhat" - nor, heaven forbid, transgress against Forum Rules by raising Moderating issues, but I just wonder why "Grayhat" suddenly appears as a "Super Moderator".

"Grayhat" has been a mod for years, nothing new.

With 23 Posts he's been around "for years"?

Again, not wanting to be contentious but what are the qualifications for being chosen / appointed / (annointed? :o ) as a Moderator then?

Not asking too many silly questions :o

Generally, to become a moderator the member in question is put forward by an admin or current moderator, then the case is discussed and a decision is made based on this discussion. In other words its a team decision with the final word coming from Admin.

Hope that helps!

As George said, Greyhat has been a moderator for years (about the same amount of time as me!) thats the simple fact of the matter.

I addressed your second question which was...

Again, not wanting to be contentious but what are the qualifications for being chosen / appointed / (annointed? biggrin.gif ) as a Moderator then?
I was just curious as to how this chappie suddenly appeared in such an elevated position.

Not a sudden change, hes been there for a long time, i asked the very same question about a year or so ago in the mods forum.

Ergo - unless the Board Statistics are totally screwed up - he obviously has NOT been a Moderator "for years"; at least not under the Nick "Grayhat".

Personally I don't care a rats rectum who is appointed as a Moderator, but when a simple question is answered with thinly veiled derision and contempt it tends to tick me of and make me even more curious.

p_brownstone, there are some admin/mods who work behind the scenes. They do not post much, they are perhaps not active as members but provide essential behind the scenes support. Without these guys thaivisa could not operate, and without supermod access or sometimes admin access they could not operate either.

thaivisa is the biggest expat online community in the world so we all need to thank these behind the scenes folks for doing what they do.

I hope this answers your question mate.

Cheers

tuky
