Pratunam Polyclinic owner ordered to pay Bt76m

BANGKOK: -- The Supreme Court yesterday upheld a previous ruling ordering the owner of the Pratunam Polyclinic to pay Bt76 million in debt, including interest since 1997, for breaching his mortgage for two adjoining townhouses in Bangkok's Makkhasan area.

The civil lawsuit was filed by Gamma Capital Fund against clinic owner Dr Thep Vechavisit and his wife Kamolrat.

Previously, the Appeals Court had also upheld a lower court's ruling for them to pay Bt11.2 million plus 3 per cent annual interest calculated since December 1997 until full payment is made in addition to Bt20,000 for lawyer's fees. Failure to pay would result in a Nonthaburi plot owned by the defendant and this building to be foreclosed.

After yesterday's verdict, Thep said he accepted the ruling and would repay his debt.

Should have paid it right at the start, would have saved himself and others a lot of time and money.

Might be a good idea in cases like this if the losers were required to pay all the courts costs.

Yea, right....He won't pay a stang. Later on he'll say he didn't understand the courts ruling, I don't have enough income, etc....and he'll say that with puppy dog eyes.

Although the details in the OP article are sparse, it certainly appears that the case has been kicking around the civil courts system for YEARS... probably longer than a decade.

Obviously you haven't been to his clinic; he probably does about 100 boob jobs a day (45,000 B per) - local anesthetic; pumps the gel right in (same gel for all four girls on gurnees) - I wouldn't bring my dog there to be castrated; but the Thai girls all go there, ever notice all the 'barney google' tit jobs - this is the guy. This 'doctor' has big money for sure.

This is part of the foreclosure process, the finance company needed a judgement of default to foreclose. The Dr just kept delaying in the hope they would go away. His good name and connections did make the finance company go away.
