mikemac
It was such a relief that after the coup we were no longer bombarded with annoying (and completely unnecessary) Thaksin headlines splashed across front pages every other day. Now merely one month and a half in, it starts all over again. Are we going back to the old days and will report on every fart this guy omits? I surely hope not. Punish the man by completely ignoring him, something the media should have started doing years ago. The only worthwhile headline will be the one announcing his funeral - somewhere far, far away in a foreign land. "The merit-making ceremony, which is also held to drive away any bad luck the deposed former premier is experiencing..." -- Well, that has worked out exceptionally well, hasn't it? In the end he created his bad luck by his own hand through constant meddling and hypocritical interfering. No merit-making whatsoever can clean up the mess he brought unto himself. Thaksin has gone unusually quiet these last few weeks, which is worrying, people like him don't go away,In my opinion he's Replotting Regrouping and Returning! So has the beheaded one, Jatuporn, Nattawut and Tida. That makes me happy. If Chalerm did fulfill his promise and lop that stupid, fat, red-nosed melon of his off, would it make any difference to his IQ rating ?
ginjag
Why honor a corrupt mental midget with a birthday celebration? Many feel it is a tragedy the man has lived one more year. He was one of the least loyal Thai citizens and one of the most decisive for many years. Hopefully he is becoming irrelevant. He is a boil on the face of Thailand. He is a cancer eating away at the country. Let him live out his remaining years in obscurity. Thaksin who? Spidermike Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect Thaksin who ??? Sinatra, that's what the crowd at Man City chanted, just fits the American Idol clip

He knew as much about the game of football as how to sing a song. Come now that is not really fair on Dr.Thaksin. He knew so much about footy that he told Sven Goran Erikkson which players to buy, sell and exchange and which positions to play them in. He also knew exactly where to bury the crystals on the pitch to elevate the players game through witchcraft. Sven, apparently loved having Dr.Thaksin tell him how to do his job.

Artisi
The merit-making ceremony, which is also held to drive away any bad luck the deposed former premier is experiencing, drew hundreds of well-wishers in the past years. Last year Sermsak Pongpanich, who was then the deputy education minister, chaired the gathering. Perhaps they will make better use of the funds for the party, like possibly donating some cash to the families of the rice farmers who committed suicide over Thaksin and Yinglucks non payment of the rice scam. On second thought, not likely is it? Probably the very last thing on their minds. Sermsak Pongpanich, Thaksin and YL, " what suicides? ".
Artisi
This statement from the original post is sort of scary. Sounds like he is simply waiting to do what he did after the coup in 2007. Let the military fumble around for a while, then when the next elections rolls around , Thaksin starts a new party with a new puppet, and the looting starts anew. Hopefully Prayuth is aware of this , and will work hard to cut the head off of the hydra that is the Thakin clan prior to any election.. I'm sure the chopping block is ready and the axe sharpened, although hopefully not too sharp.
Artisi
This celebration of an accused mass murderer, accused terrorist and unelected convicted criminal fugitive's birthday is more akin to the worship of a cult leader. Anyway I have not got time to extrapolate. I have a Julia Gilliard Birthday party to organize! Enjoy Julia's party - just watch your back.

Artisi
Thaksin's birthday doesn't merit temple ceremony this year ...and it never did and it never will. He will get his temple ceremony one day and he will be the guest of honor. There will be celebration and merit making throughout the land. And the vultures will be seen hovering over the carcass fighting for their share of the billions. Let's hope that day is not too far distant. city
An irrelevant story about a non-event that has no bearing on the current situation -- a perfect junta news story. As I have stated previously..I am not a Thaksin fan but only a fool would ever discount this man from returning. Its takes the word of one and Thaksin will return and the worlds of those who are trying to change the political landscape will live in fear. A certain pairing will reek havoc on the current elites. Thaksin is a man who wants revenge and he is not alone

Thaksin and others may seek revenge but he'll never be safe here based on the large number of enemies he's made. Seh Daeng tried it and failed.

Thaksin is a man who wants revenge and he is not alone I don't think for one doubt that Thaksin is a vengeful individual, I do somewhat suspect though that the coup, and the ongoing changes are precisely done to ensure that a certain pairing never get the opportunity to go into partnership and reek havoc and theft across the country.

Thaksin Shinawatra returning to Thailand and staying alive is less likely than Luis Suarez biting off Leo Messi's left arm.

I have no time for anyone who stoops low enough to support anything or anyone associated with the Shin regime, especially the ones who say "I don't support Thaksin, but........................................"

Eric Loh
Really who knows what is behind all the political manipulation. For sure, he is awfully quiet, obeying and have not said anything bad about the junta. You can't shut Taksin out unless he is either handed a carrot or a dire threat. Who knows ; not even the die hard junta fans in TVF.
