BANGKOK, July 14 -- There were no reports of casualties among Thai nationals in Israel as fighting between Israel and the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip continues, according to Sek Wannamethee, director-general of Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Information Department.

Mr Sek said Sunday that reports sent by the Thai embassy in Tel Aviv showed that up to 53 people were killed and more than 400 wounded as fighting between the Israeli and the Palestinian forces continues.

However, there were no reports of casualties among Thais living there, he said.

Mr. Sek said the Israeli government had given assurances that it would do everything it could to protect the lives of innocent people and also to end the ongoing violence as soon as possible.

“The Thai embassy is coordinating closely with Thais in Israel by providing advices and assistance in case of emergency,” said Mr Sek.

“However, there’s still no need for an evacuation of Thais for the time being,” he said. (MCOT online news)

Israel has been under rocket attacks. There have been some injuries in Israel. Not many, but some. It is sensible for the Thai authorities to look after their citizens in Israel by evaluating the risk level in Israel.

Not a coffee break:

Now we can all see how shallow the great US of A really is. A bloodless coup here in Thailand and they cut aid, Israel kills 150 or more innocent civilians in air strikes and they give them more money, Wan@#$s!

Israel is going after targets associated with terrorist organization Hamas (dedicated to the destruction of Israel) and the rocket attacks into Israel. Yes, innocent civilians are being killed but they are not the targets.

"Quick, record this.....this is a great photo op. We can use this to show the world that we do not kill innocent children".

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if a taskforce was sent out to specifically look for children on a roof and to stage this.

All the world knows full well that the IDF don't give a flying flick about collateral damage that they inflict upon innocent Gazans.

Rocket attacks. Sounds impressive.

Home-made rockets against Iron Dome, that if they get through, fall far short of any real strategic target. An israeli goat gets hammered in an isolated field, and that is excuse to slaughter 100 Palestinians.

would you be more happy if hamas had more success with their missiles?

I would be. It's way past time that the Israelis discarded the huge chip on their shoulder from WW11, stopped settlements, stopped apartheid against Arab Israelis, stopped blockading Gaza, got out of the West Bank, and gave an indigenous people their land back.

The topic is about Thais in Israel. There are many. I'm not aware of any Thais in Gaza (and if there were, hopefully they have evacuated). Again, on topic, the statements in the OP from the Thai official sound logical to me based on the current conditions in Israel.

There are a number of other active current threads about the wider issues and controversies related to the current flareup between Hamas/Gaza and Israel.

Of course, JT, lets not talk about the real issues here. As per usual, anything, even the truth, (especially the truth) must be avoided if it puts Israel in a bad light. Here, we avoid it by "staying on topic".

I think most people would agree that Thais in Israel are not currently facing unacceptably high risk due to the current military conflict between Israel and Hamas (in Gaza). Obviously higher than if there were no rockets coming in from Gaza, but no rational reason at this point for the Thais to evacuate.

Like I said there are NUMEROUS other active threads going here about the larger issues you are referring to. Why is there a need for another on a topic clearly about the situation for THAIS in Israel?

Hamas is firing rockets into Israel

Israel does all it can to protect its citizens and non citizens and Thai in Israel are safe.
