BANGKOK, July 15 -- Thai health authorities are ready to deliver free flu shots to 3 million individuals “at risk” by the end of this month, after up to 41,000 people fell ill with the disease in the first half of this year.

Dr Narong Sahametapat, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, said influenza started to spread due to the ongoing rainy season.

The ministry was offering vaccines for H1N1, also known as 2009 influenza, H3N2 and B influenza virus free of charge to people in four risk groups consisting of those aged 65 and over, women who have been pregnant for at least four months, children aged from six months to two years and people with seven chronic diseases.

They number about 3 million. About 400,000 medical workers were also eligible to the free vaccination that is aimed to contain influenza.

From May 1 to July 8, 1,622,866 people received vaccination.

Dr Narong also said that he ordered subordinates to have about 1.7 million medical staffs who had earlier failed to receive the vaccination to do it by July 31.

The Bureau of Epidemiology reported that from January 1 to July 6 this year 41,196 people were diagnosed with influenza, with 56 of them dying from it. Most deaths also related to chronic diseases.

The number of patients rose by 2-3 times year-on-year. Without effective control, the number could peak at 20,000-26,000 monthly in August and September. (MCOT online news)

There's enough evidence out there that these shots are more dangerous than the flu, some real nasty stuff inside. I hope the vulnerable Thai's do some research before rolling up their sleeve's.

Someone, somewhere must be getting paid for how many shots are administered. They've been canvassing around our village for people to go to the local health centre and I had to virtually fight for my daughter to be exempted from getting a shot at her school.

The thing is, the effectiveness of these shots is far from proven and there are so many different kinds of flu, that the protection offered isn't that much. Good hygiene, good nutrition, and overall well being is far moe effective.

I should of course add, that the above is my opinion. I know a lot of people put a lot of stock in this kind of shot. I'm all for proven vaccines for some of the terrible diseases out there, but this isn't one of them.....in my opinion.

Free flu shots for certain groups are common in many countries; good to see Thailand doing it also.

Preservatives in vaccines used to be mercury !!! Highly toxic to humans !!!

Now it is replaced with Aluminium ... also HIGHLY toxic to humans !!!

.... anybody wants to have this ???

What can be healthy about putting toxic heavy metals into your body ???

Your answer to vaccines should be now pretty easy !!!

How much is a flu shot if I pay for it? I want one. The last time I had the flu was the last time I want the flu.

And all this talk of the "dangerous" vaccine shots has been proven as nonsense. Turn off Fox News, it makes you stupid.
