Is there an a/c bus from Victory Monument to Central Shopping Mall on Chaengwattana Road?

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

I'm Trent and new to this great site. I'm hoping to find an appropriate air-conditioned bus from Victory Monument (VM) to Central Shopping Complex on Chaengwatana Road (CCR) in Nonthaburi.

I know that the red and green buses are not air-conditioned but have observed the blue and white colored buses appear to be.

Is there a bus line from VM that makes a stop at CCR? If there is, how much will the fare cost one way? Finally, do they operate on weekends? I can't read Thai so am unable to get this information on Thai websites.

Thank you for any tips coming this way. I'm hoping to avoid taxis as the last one I took I'm quite convinced the driver was high off drugs as he was speeding and barely slowed when I politely asked him to.

Trent

I've used many, many, many taxis here in Bangkok. I've only had one that was a problem. I generally find they are pretty good. So not sure I'd discount this option so quickly. Depending on where you are going, this can be the best way to go.

Since this is mainly about Bangkok, let's move this over to the Bangkok sub forum. You might get better responses over there. A link will be left in the travel forum also.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice and move Craig. Yes, I know not all taxis are problematic. However, I'm also trying to cut costs as from my rented apartment near MBK to CCR results in a fare that is roughly 280+ baht...

Just use google maps. Enter the two locations and you can get travel directions for the bus to anywhere in BKK and surroundings.

BMA transport also has a similair service on its website. Very handy!

There's a van service (hourly?) from Victory Monument to Central Chaengwattana. It's 25 baht from memory and gets there in around 20 minutes as it takes the expressway. Quicker and more comfortable than a bus IMO. Unless it has changed location it leaves from the area on the same side but across from the Rajavithi Hospital. Just ask any other drivers around there for "Centan Chaengwattana".

Thanks for this good info. I did research on the "rot dtoo" van you're referring to and will definitely go this route. With much appreciation.

try blue bus 166 from Victory Monument, Bus Stop is opposite the BTS Station

Yes, 166 is the way to go, man. Just 16Bht. Takes about 20 mins average. Take the bus stop in Victory Monument heading northwards. Take the 166 from the middle lane. Be aware that there is another less frequent 166 route in the inner lane which turn right at Chaeng-wattana junction and away from Central Chaeng.

The van bus going to Pakkred that take the same route is just behind the said bus stop. 30 bahts. In terms of speed, there is not much difference between the two going up. However, if you are coming back to VM, take the van bus (from the opposite side of Central Chaeng) because the regular bus exit to Rama 6 and head towards the regular feature of traffic congestion before coming back to VM. The van bus exits at VM directly.
