Black mold test in Thailand

Featured Replies

We have started seeing black mold in our condo. I don't mind cleaning it, but I would like to know that it's not Stachybotrys (toxic mold that can causes serious problems, bleeding of the lungs, memory loss, etc).

In the USA it's really easy to test for this, there are labs that accept samples and give you quick results for $30.

In thailand I can't find any way to test. I've tried calling Central Lab Thai but they don't do that test nor know anyone who does.

Anyone know how to quickly get a mold sample tested to see if it's Stachybotrys around Bangkok?

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't matter if it is stachybotrys, what matters is whether or not it is producing the toxin, tricothecenes, and that is what you would really want to test for. Urine samples undergo ELISA testing. THe test is expensive, $1000 +, doubt they have it here.

Not all stachybotrys molds produce the toxin. So even it you shipped a sample back, and it came out positive, what would you do, other than move?

Killing the mold with bleach does not adversely effect any toxins already present. Once on clothing and books and household items, they must be professionally cleaned, or destroyed.

If you have tricothecenes in your system, most doctors will tell you there is no way to get them out. The liver recycles them indefinitely. There is some support that a course of cholestyramine remove the toxins, however.

Not what you want to hear, but them's the facts.
