SAMITIVEJ-SANO HOSPITALS SIGN MOU FOR MEDICAL EXCELLENCE

IN LIVER AND DIGESTIVE SYSTEM TREATMENT

To enhance medical excellence in liver and digestive system treatment, Samitivej, a leading private hospital in the Southeast Asia region, has partnered with Sano Hospital, a Japanese hospital specialized in endoscopy, to exchange knowledge and experience and improve Samitivej team’s capability. The partnership is celebrated with the first medical workshop for Samitivej’s medical team and specialists in liver and digestive system, aiming at better care for patients and quality of life improvement.

Samitivej signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sano Hospital, Japan’s leading private hospital specialized and advanced in gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, for advanced diagnosis and therapeutic via endoscopy which helps in early cancer detection for patients’ better quality of life.

Chairat Panthuraamphorn M.D., Managing Director and CEO, Samitivej Public Company Limited, said, “Both Samitivej and Sano aspire to provide healthcare services of the highest quality to patients while improving the quality of our human resources. With this shared vision, we have reached an agreement to cooperate on three areas – teaching and education for human resource development, research and development and medical seminars. Continuous learning, we believe, is the key to quality excellence in all aspects, which will in the end enable us to help people maintain good health while promoting new knowledge that will unlock another level of medical excellence.”

Yasushi Sano M.D., Sano Hospital Director and Chief of Institute of Minimally-Invasive Endoscopic Care, said, “We are glad to be working closely with Samitivej in enhancing our people’s knowledge and expertise while offering patients and families with better health solution. We will bring to this cooperation our expertise in gastroscopy that will help boost Samitivej’s Liver & GI’s capability in screening and treating patients with problems with liver and digestive system, especially Japanese expats and family living in Thailand.”

In addition to three main areas of cooperation, Sano Hospital will assist Samitivej in advanced endoscopy, which is its area of expertise. Following the MOU signing ceremony, Sano will begin to help Samitivej in the Liver & Digestive Institute, enabling Samitivej to provide better medical services to its customers, including Japanese expats and their families living in Thailand. At present, Japanese is the largest group of foreign customers as Samitivej handles approximately 120,000 Japanese patients or averagely 400 Japanese people per day. Considering the continuously increasing number of Japanese patients, Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital opened Japanese Medical Center in October 2013. It is currently the No.1 rank in terms of Japanese patient visit among hospitals outside of Japan. .

After the MOU signing, both hospitals have jointly organized a medical workshop to share the latest knowledge and information on analysis, diagnosis and treatment for patients with liver and digestive system problems.

Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital’s Liver and GI Center has expertise in providing treatment for diseases related to liver and digestive system, such as infection, alcoholism, cirrhosis, fatty liver, pancreatitis, gall stone, etc. The center adopts advanced technology and innovation, has a team of specialist. Located on 2nd Floor, Classic Wing of Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital, the center has a team of 10 doctors, 11 nurses and four technologists who are specialized in liver and gastrointestinal system and is fully equipped with 12 examination rooms, five endoscopy rooms and 8 recovery rooms.
