New Post Office near Meechok

Featured Replies

Great news - it's run by a brother/sister team and the sister speaks some English. It's quite small and has only been open for six days so they are still learning the ropes but are very friendly and helpful. From the Meechok intersection head toward the 700 year stadium and it's on the left, directly opposite the Kwan Yin temple.

Is this an actual post office? Or a "sub-station"? When you say "run by a brother/sister team" I suspect the latter.

When I described it to my wife she said it's definitely the latter. She used to have a job in which she did lots of mailing and she says these outfits are unreliable and would never use one. Her complaint is that they sometimes hold packages way too long. I mailed a package through them today at 2 or 3PM and it was already at Khamtieng at 3:30 and Lamphun at 8PM so they're apparently trying hard for now at least. Anyway, sorry for the false news of a "new post office".

Oh, and not that it matters to me, being happily married and all that, but the sister is very easy on the eyes.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'll never use one of those sub-stations again after losing 2 registered packages sent to Europe on the same day from the little sub-station in Meechock Plaza about 3 or 4 years back. Both packages combined worth about 14K THB never, ever even made it as far as Bangkok. I'm not saying the lady who runs it is dishonest (she would have had no use for the contents), but just the fact there is a middleman opens the door for something to go wrong. I filed claims and the postal service investigated for many months. Eventually I was paid about 3,000 Baht compensation for the loss of both packages.

You're welcome, and thank you for telling your story. I'll think twice before going there again. Khamtieng or even the Sansai post office are not that far away.

At first there were no post offices around this area, now there are 3

sub offices,RimPing,Meechok market and the one mentioned above,

The one in RimPing is suspect and charges more commission than the

other 2,have used the one in Meechoke market ,for delivery in Thailand

and overseas and have had no problems, not that i would send anything

very important or valuable this way, but it saves driving to nearest official

P.O.and sometimes waiting in a queue ,so they are welcome additions

to the area.

There's also one in Tesco Lotus across the street from Mee Chok Plaza.
