PATTANI: -- FOUR BORDER patrol police officers were injured - two seriously - when a 20kg bomb went off on the side of number 42 highway in Pattani's Muang district yesterday.

The explosion at 6am on a road island in tambon Rusamilae also damaged the victims' police pick-up.

The wounded officers were Police Sergeant Pakphum Chan-metha, Police Senior Sergeant Major Nanthasak Phetchsen, Police Sergeant Sitthiporn Sopa-wang, and Police Senior Sergeant Major Somjit Rattanapan.

The first two were in a critical condition with bomb shrapnel to the head, which prompted doctors to send them via helicopter to Songkhla's Songkhlanagarind Hospital.

Compensation in Yala

Meanwhile, Yala governor Decharat Simsiri presented Bt500,000 in compensation to the family of Krong Pinang deputy police superintendent Police Lt-Colonel Adinan Isma-ae, who was killed in a July 10 ambush along with Police Sub-Lieutenant Danupol Asae and Police Lance Corporal Hama Sarato.

Decharat later presided over the burial of Danupol and present Bt500,000 in compensation to the Asae family also.

In related news, Ra Ngae district police in Narathiwat arrested two suspects aged 19 and 21 who later reportedly confessed to planning and carrying out bomb attacks in tambon Tanyongmas last Sunday.

The two men were seen on CCTV footage riding a motorcycle in the area after allegedly planting the bombs.

Just yesterday, Thai officials were claiming that bombings, killings, and maiming in the Thai south were down considerably.

This is clearly an anti-coup article, contradicting our Masters' declaration yesterday and threatening the Happiness of Thai People - unless Thai people just don't give a sh!t, in which case it's business as usual.
