Bank withdrawal

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if there's a maximum you can withdraw from the bank? In the UK it is £250. Reason for the question is I have lost my debit card so want to make a large withdrawal from my account as I know ordering a new one will involve about 2 weeks waiting time. The bank is Kasikorn. Also I need to tell them my old card is lost and I new a new one. The verb for lost is "lohng" right? :-)

You can withdraw up to account balance with passbook but not sure what debit card lost you are talking about?  If you intend to use a bank card to withdraw it will be baht and many have limits from 30k to 150k per day (50k per day seems most common).  Bank cards here are issued on the spot at most banks (wife did today at KTB).

Hi lopburi that's comforting to know. It'll only be about 25-30k and I have a passbook and my much photocopied passport. It's my ATM card I've lost. If they can replace that on the spot then I'll be very happy.

Should be available immediately - know they are at Bangkok Bank and KTB.  They have keypads to enter your PIN during the issue process.  But just fill out withdrawal slip and present passbook/passport at counter to take out any amount you want if not immediately available.

Kasikorn also issue on the spot so no waiting time.  Although they might try to up-sell you one with built in insurance.

Scb also the same.
5 minutes tops and youll be good to go

Don't forget your passport.

I won't! Will rock up with my passbook and passport tomorrow at 11 am sharp. By the way if anyone who is proficient enough in Thai can help me with some useful phases is appreciate it and my Thai is limited and so is their English. Thanks! :-)

If all else fails I'll try that. I always find it funny and slightly ridiculous when they get an older person to talk to you. This person always looks terrified and often speaks less English than anyone else.

ps ... the same goes if you want to know anything about smartphones / tablets .... ask the nearest teenager :)

Just a heads up , its the same for all the banks.

If you go to the atm theres a section you can go to that asks if you want to increase your daily limit and to how much.
Youll need to put in your passport number , then tou can choose your daily limit.

For Scb the max is 200,000thb per day in twenty k withdrawls.

Great. Thanks for this.

Just waiting for the bank to open............. ;-)

With passport AND bank book you can withdraw over the counter as much as is on the account.

I once withdrew a million Baht. No blink of an eye. Got a nice corded package.

New ATM card is no prob at all. Might cost a fee for early replacement.
