Hi everyone!

Just have a couple of questions and hope you can help me :)

I am planning to move to Chiang Mai in October - that's after my Vietnam trip. Now, I'm planning to stay longer - maybe 3-9 months. I'm not sure as it depends on my mood (yeah women).  And I'm confused what way should I go when it comes to visa stuff. I am not planning to work in Thailand neither to study (but I'm willing to take the ED visa option as a last resort). I am from the Philippines and have been travelling overseas from the last one year since I got a location independent job. I am aware that I can enter Thailand under visa exemption for 30 days as I have been in Thailand twice, visiting for less than a week each trip - but I want to stay longer this time. I've been trying to search online for possible visa options for me but can't find something suitable for my plan and since all these issues with visa runs crackdown etc, a visa run is something that I don't wanna risk. I am planning to lease a condo and with advance payments (plus security deposits) that goes with it - surely I wouldn't want my money (and my stuff that I'm planning to leave in Thailand) go down the drain if I got denied entry. I have already checked the tourist visa options for me and based on the confusing info I got from the internet, Filipinos are only allowed for up to 60 days (30 days initially and can be extended for another 30 days but I need to fly out? What's the point of getting a TR then?). Multiple entry visa is not also option for us based on what I have read.  I am not sure how true is this as details for TR for Filipinos are very limited. And I mean extremely limited. I tried agencies in Thailand but they said they don't process TR for Philippine residents and can't provide me info as well. I called the Thai embassy in Manila but sadly, the people I talked with are not the sharpest tools in the shed and advised me to fly under visa exemptions. Ugh. And with expensive intl call rates, I can't afford to call them over and over just to find that elusive sharpest tool to get me the accurate info I need! :)

I have a good standing with immigration policies with all the countries I've been and no issues of overstaying, and though I believe I can get away doing visa runs for the first 1-3 attempts, main reason I don't want to fly out as well is I want to slow down for a bit and use CM as my home base. I'm also in between my corporate job and my artistic stuff and prefer to spend my weekends in the middle of forest or fields writing novels than hitting airports here and there. I know some will be able to relate :)

Another question is if someone has feedback for the condo buildings below. Im looking specifically for security, cleanliness and accessibility. I don't mind paying extra as long as it is safe, clean and accessible.

PP Condo - (Charoen Muang Road Soi 8) the unit looks good in the pictures (cosy, minimalist, good interior) and got everything I need plus really cheap but outside the unit, it seems rundown and a bit far (though the agent claims it's close to a couple of malls)

Vieng Peng - close to Nimman and looks good enough but not homey enough to me

JC Hill

Hillside Payap Condo 7

Galae Throng

I know it's kinda long now but thanks in advance for those who will answer!

You might find it easier to generate answers if you were a bit more telegraphic in your writing. Not many people will want to wade through all that you've written, which is why more people read short articles than read War and Peace. Brief paragraphs that come to the point quickly tend to be more successful.

I am not with the grammar police (or at least not on duty at the moment), just suggesting what might get more responses.

Why don't you go into the Thai Embassy in Manila in person. If they are confused maybe they will just give you a 60 day triple entry. You can them extend each one of the entries by 30 days and have a total of 270 days.

I know it is difficult at times to get a clear answer from them but if they allow this or make a mistake and grant it you will have 270 days at the most and the least 90 days.

Hard to really say when as you say they have so little information and the immigration is tightening up on rules now. But worth a try. You also might try the immigration forum.

Good Luck

Now this is funny. Some people get trolled here for the lack of details and now you don't want enough details :) That's okay. I just need people who can answer me properly and not someone who will nitpick on me. Have a good day!

Not everyone has the attention span of a fish, and those that do are probably too stupid to answer his questions anyway.
