Huawei Ascend Mate 2 / Frequency questions

Featured Replies

Hello everyone!

Has somebody made experiences with this smartphone? It looks awesome due to the immense battery capabilities, but needs likely to be imported from overseas.

Will the phone work as under Thai 3G/LTE frequencies? Here are the specifications:

UMTS Bands 1,2,4,5

GSM 850/900/1800/1900

EDGE CLASS 10

LTE Band 2,4,5, & 17

Hi!

Your link shows that LTE is provided via DTAC and True on 2100 frequencies. Thanks! Just out of interest, is AIS not a provider of LTE over here?

In addition to that, the GSM webpage shows that the phone covers 2100 but the official US site doesn´t mention. Is there something I miss?

I asked the nice lady at the AIS shop at the airport a couple of weeks ago: "When will AIS get 4G"?

I swear she kept a completely deadpan face and said "Maybe 20 years". Then winked at me.

I've got this phone and I love it. But I haven't tried it with Thailand 4G as I too am on AIS, so only 3G which was fine.

Works great in the Middle East though.

Oh, pity, unfortunately I am with AIS too. :-)

But on a topic related note and just for a final confirmation, do I understand it right that the Mate 2 will work on 4g with True/DTAC and on 3g with all thee carriers?

Thanks in advance for helping me out here as this is not really my field of expertise.

If anybody knows furthermore where in Thailand to get the Mate 2 - please get in touch. I will consider used phones, too.

Thanks!

It should work with 3G on all carriers, but for 4G you're best printing out the frequencies and popping into the True+DTAC shops. They normally have one smart cookie that can tell you these things.

Thai 4g is currently 2100mhz. BUT there may be 1800mhz if the NBCT ever get a chance to sell it.

I saw Huawei Ascend Mates at Jay Mart and IT City but not sure it's the 4G capable model. I have a Lenovo P-780 with a similar 4000 mAh battery and love it; can easily go 3 days on a charge, no searching for outlets in Starbucks or airports.

Otherwise kind of heavy and clunky and mine only has 1G ram and 4G rom...not enough. I understand newer models have 8G ram but I have not seen them here. B7000

The mates at jaymart are the original not 2nd generation (did they have in stock? . I'm actually interested ) also OP mate 3 is due September . The Lenovo P780 8gig is on 7/11 online for 5990b.

Saw the Mates about 4 to 6 weeks ago but haven't paid attention since. When I think about it, I think it was in one of the shops in Central Festival, Pattaya.

Seems strange that the Mate 2 didn´t made its way to the Thai stores as its on the market for quite a while. Now, we will see the Mate 3 lining up, however the Mate 2 is fine for me. Still haven´t found it anywhere in or around Bangkok or Thai online shops.

But I didn't think they would send to Thailand. At least that's what I was told!

I think you are right. Without a helping hand, located in Malaysia, you cannot get it shipped. Sorry for the confusion caused by this!

No problem. Still interesting that it's available.
