Asus Zenphone 5 ?

Featured Replies

Has anybody here bought the Asus Zenphone 5? Impressions?

For the price, less than B6000 at IT City it seems a very impressive package. 2gb ram, 8gb rom with 16 available, micro SD up to 64gb, Dual core Intel Atom processor, 8mp rear camera, 2mp front;  5" Gorilla glass screen (1280X720) and a 2100+ mAh battery.

Most phones with matching specs are in the B9000++ range.

My GF needs a new phone and this looks very tempting.

Anyone looking for a really inexpensive, smaller smartphone should check out the Zenphone 4, also with impressive specs for a B3000 phone.  4" screen.

Apparently there is also a Zenphone 6 "phablet" but I didn't see it on display.

I have the Zenphone 5 and very pleased with it. Very good value and no problems so far. The camera is excellent.
How is the battery life? Asus are pretty much the only phones using the Intel chips, right? Have you had any trouble with apps?

After my OP, I found a recent review on TECHSPOT of the Zenphone-5 and it mentioned that some versions of Grand Theft Auto would not run on the Atoms x86 architecture. Not a problem for me.

The conclusion of the review was that the Zenphone-5 was great value for the money but it's performance benchmarks did not threaten the top line models.  The camera and battery life got the most criticism.

More info about battery life. App problems (if any) thanks

I use the Zenphone as a tablet as well as a phone as it has an excellent screen. I normally charge it once per day when the battery level is around 25-30%. but if only used as a phone I guess it would have a battery life of 2-3 days very similar to my previous Samsung S3 mini.

No problems have been experienced with any apps so far and the response is very fast. I cannot find fault with it either as a phone or a tablet other than as simply a phone it is rather large but the convenience of having a usable tablet in your pocket compensates.

FYI, Just noticed that Lazada.Com has the Zenphone-5,  B5995 for the standard version but also an "Imported" version for B4995,  B1000 less.

I don't know if there are any real differences...maybe warranty?  The THAI language font is baked into the Android OS so that shouldn't be an issue.  Maybe some Chinese apps?
