ILR Documents

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone this is going to be my first post to this site and I look forward to getting some sound advice.

I will be applying for ILR very soon for my wife and would just like to check that I have the correct documents. I am disabled so do not work due to health reason I am currently getting.

Child Benefit, Child Tax Credit, Contribution based ESA, Housing Benefit and disability living allowance.

So the documents that I have are as follows:

Completed application form,

Life in the UK pass certificate,

B1 speaking and listening certificate,

Letters spanning the 2 year period,

My bank statement which details what benefit I am getting and how much,

passport photos,

I think that is about all that I need but would someone with better knowledge than myself be so kind and confirm this is correct.

Thank you all very much.

The relevant parts of the SET(M) application form and guidance will tell you what documents are required.

I recommend you use the settlement checking service, who will check the application is complete (but not whether or not ILR will be granted!) and send it on to UKVI, who make the decision. Note you do not have to use the one where you live, so if your local authority doesn't offer the service you can go to one which does. Also, each local authority sets their own fee; shop around as another one may be cheaper than the one where you live.

Thank you for the replies I was just a bit worried about me claiming benefits would affect her application,

It wont.

As long as you are not claiming any extra due to her living with you and as long as she is not claiming any prohibited ones herself; with the exception of tax credits which HMRC rules say a husband and wife must claim jointly.
