Where to fly when wanting to leave the country to apply for a tourist visa

Featured Replies

I'm currently here on visa exempt. It's my first visit here in a year. I am planning to apply for a 30 day extension (after the 29th) and then after about 7 weeks in the country I was thinking to fly somewhere, stay for a week or two and then get a tourist visa.

Does this sound like a reasonable thing to do? Would there be any possible problems with immigration?

I'd like to get some suggestions on where to go. Here's what I am looking for:

- A place that I could get to cheaply by air

- A place where it would be easy to get the tourist visa

- A city with a good infrastructure but not so expensive. Someplace where I can find plenty of small coffee shops, some good malls.

What I am not looking for:

- Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia.

- A place full of tourists.

- A place that's not too expensive

I cannot think of a place that meets all my needs. Does such a place exist and if so where?

You will have no problem getting a tourist visa.

There is a honorary Thai consulate in Bali. Not sure if that would meed your requirements.

Singapore meets some of them but is expensive.

Laos should fit your needs. Luang Prabang is quiet, relaxed place, good start to other locations. Vientiane for the visa bot not for stay.
