Cleaning the excreta of little things that eat wood ?

Sawasdee Khrup, TV CM Friends,

This humble flea, on a tick, in the ear, of a mangy, three-legged, soi dog begs a plenary non-specific location indulgence of Thee for the following question:

I have almost finished moving, and discovered, to my horror, that underneath one heavy wooden book-case that evidently provided a home for millions of little things: there is a heavy, caked, cement-like, residue of their communal meals.

This residue is on a parquet floor of teak-wood tiles. I need to clean it up.

But, how ? Any recommendations other than water, and scrubbing, and scraping ?

thanks !

Google and the internet provide some tips. The general consensus is that hot water and dish soap may be your best friends. I'd suggest covering the mass with a hot, wet towel to soften it and then scraping up what you can without damaging the floor. Then repeating the process. Use hot water. It will work much better than tepid water. Don't let the wood floor stay wet for a long time (like more than 5 - 10 minutes) because water can damage wood.

When you finally get to the point that you're dealing with stains, not gunk, then the dish soap may come into play.
