I've been to Samui several times and stayed in clean bungalows on the beach or very near the sea for under B 500/night. I wonder if it's as easy to find comparable accomodations at Samet? Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

You'll find that nearly all the accomodation on samet (in the national park part - not the village) is along the beach. For B500 you won't have any problems getting decent accomodation - just not air con, TV, hot water etc. Tok's Little Huts is quite good, a basic bungalow (decent size) with fan is B300. It really depends what you're after and on what beach you want to stay. At the moment it is packed on samet, so you'll have some difficulty getting accomodation, even more so around song kran.
