Myanmar Meditation Visa in Bangkok

Featured Replies

Has anyone gotten a Myanmar Meditation Visa in Thailand recently? I am a US national hoping to sit a ten day meditation course in Myanmar. The Myanmar embassy in the US told me that I can only do so with a meditation visa, which is very difficult to get in the US. It takes up to 3 months and requires an original invitation physically mailed from a Myanmar meditation center. Is that what you need to show in Bangkok as well, or will a print out with a signature, with my personal information filled out in pen, be good enough? How long does it take to get? Any input from recent travel will be greatly appreciated.

Is that what people do? I am kind of worried about doing that in a country like Burma: that has massive government surveilance etc.

Yes, it is Desertpearl. The Myanmar authorities don't even have 1% of the capabilities of your government. I'd look at it the other way around, you'll be leaving mass surveillance behind for 10 days or so!thumbsup.gif
