Koh Tao island 'sealed off' after gruesome murder of two British tourists

Just listening to an Irish news report warning people about the dangers of Thai holiday island drugs rape and motor bike accidents. The report was finished off with that Thai police are worried and are searching for a missing friend of one of the dead.

What appalls me (apart from the enormity of the crime) is the total lack of professionalism shown by the police with regard to the crime scene. In the photos that I have seen there were uniformed officers milling about, trampling on everything, with miscellaneous other persons spectating. The only protective gear I could see was one bloke wearing rubber gloves, The scene should have been fully cordoned off with the only persons allowed entry being specialised forensic personnel in protective clothing.

I appreciate that the island would not have forensic teams to hand, but the scene should have been preserved until they arrived. What thoughts Chooka and other ex police members?

It could have been more a motivation to murder than to rape but after he killed the man he decided to rape the woman before killing her.

He since it was dark and he had the element of surprise he might have killed the man easily.

I hope the killer is caught quickly.

If you read the news, there were four of them, including an Asian who was seen on cctv fleeing the other farang was in the sea he had serious wounds.

I think they were naked and having a bit of 'fun' on the beach and someone got jealous , found a hoe and went mad .

He has fled also , how was this allowed if hes not the killer , he is a key witness !

He? Not 'they'?? Took more than one to do this, unless it was done in between those small rocks as a matter of surprise, after the event. Would somebody killing 2 people remove a condom after the event. HOE IN THE BACK is not obtained when facing somebody. It is clear what happened, but I'm for sure not going to speculate.

after reading this i feel so lucky to be alive, i have never spoke about this to anyone but now feel i can.. i was one of the lucky ones, i was raped in 2004, I was 16 at the time i managed to get away and call a passer by (most traumatic experience ever otherwise i dont think id be here) and also was lucky enough to get justice by identifying my attacker (who was a stranger didnt know him) who is still in jail today. i was very young and it always has affected me however, it never made me hate Thailand or want to go home, I hope their attacker gets caught, my thoughts are with the family at this difficult time i only hope this doesnt affect the rest of thailand much as its not the countrys fault that there are some bad people here, lets face it it could happen in any country.

I have walked past beach parties, and all one hears is screams. Boozed up and drug taking (prob 50%) of attendees would not give a toss about screams. It could be more than one person yes. But it could have easily been one person. OJ Simpson probably killed 2 people by himself. There are husbands have murdered their whole family before. The gal and guy probably had a decent amount to drink. They are in a relaxed mood, somewhat private little area, it is dark, they dont have shoes on, it would have taken only one or two blows to the head to kill him. She is trapped and is killed.

Extremely bad news for Thai tourism. I with my wife personally select Thailand as my number one holiday destination. I visit this Kingdom at least twice in a year, advise my friends accordingly. Incidents like murder of British couple shocked me severely. I think government of Thailand immediately should take necessary action to find the killer and impose peaceful law and order around the kingdom. I think current government will be able to create lawful environment all over Thailand.

2 years ago my GF and I walked on that section of beach many times. This Christmas we were hoping to do the same again. Now i'm not so sure... I just don't think it would have the same appeal knowing that 2 innocent holidaymakers met their demise on the same sand we'd be walking on. It would certainly take the romantic feel away from it, and make us feel like we could be next. Unlikely I know, but how unlikely did it feel to this couple that they'd be murdered on that night?

2 years ago my GF and I walked on that section of beach many times. This Christmas we were hoping to do the same again. Now i'm not so sure... I just don't think it would have the same appeal knowing that 2 innocent holidaymakers met their demise on the same sand we'd be walking on. It would certainly take the romantic feel away from it, and make us feel like we could be next. Unlikely I know, but how unlikely did it feel to this couple that they'd be murdered on that night?
