SURAT THANI, 24 September 2014 (NNT) - Chief Public Health official of Surat Thani province Yongyot Thammawut has led an inspection of vegetarian food stalls located near the Surat Thani municipality area.

The inspection is aimed at finding possible chemical residues in fruits, vegetables and cooked food. The Public Health officials’ team has also recommended the vendors to follow hygienic food cooking practices.

Dr. Yongyot revealed that the inspection was to ensure that food shops met the sanitation requirements. In their on-going efforts to ensure contaminant-free food products, Public Health officials have rigorously inspected vegetable markets and food shops to see whether agricultural chemicals leave residues in food.

Public relations campaigns have also been carried out to help inform locals in choosing the right kinds of ingredients for their food products.
