Where to buy inexpensive clothes in BKK?

Sorry for all the posts but I had yet another question for you all.

I'm near Soi 18 / Asok station and I'm out of clothes. I didn't bring much for my 2 month stay. I just figured I'd buy some here, but I'm overwhelmed.

Where should I go to pick up some new T-shirts, polo shirts, shorts, sun glasses, wallet, etc for a good price and not get ripped off (I don't speak Thai yet)? I'm 30ish btw if that helps with your suggestions.

I want to buy like 10-15 items.

Difficult what you would define as inexpensive. Go to central world, they always have brand clothes promotions, shirts for 300-800 and pants 1000 up. Inexpensive I think do you want complete cheap clothes, take the skytrain tomorrow to mochit and visit the chacuchak (spelling) weekend market everything from a mere 100b up.

Also khao san rd has dirt cheap clothing

Really cheap? Get yourself to Bobae market before sun up. You will generally have to buy at least three of everything but the stuff is cheap. https://www.google.co.th/maps/search/bobae+clothing+market+bangkok/@13.752915,100.514694,17z/data=!3m1!4b1

Plenty of second class stuff there also, I bought stuff where the hems were stitched wrong, but nobody will be seeing my underpants in public. Market traders from all over Thailand come here.

If you can get yourself to a Big C then that'll cover your needs.

Markets can be tricky if you don't know any Thai or if you're feeling overwhelmed at the moment.

I'd just head to H&M in Terminal 21, just down the road from you- depends on what you class as inexpensive though.

Thanks all! I went to Big C and I was amazed and the selection and prices! I'd say it's better than Walmart in my opinion. This country keeps getting better and better. However, starting to notice how rude Thai's often are to my non Thai speaking self. At the dressing room, they tell me to put my own stuff back (stuff that didn't fit) clearly they know they are supposed to do it since they said before I even tried to give it back. At the check out an item was missing a price as if it's my fault, they don't want to do anyting about it, they force me to go find the item with a price. This is all fine but what made me upset is how they put the items in the bag. They threw these pefectly ironed and straight clothes right in to the bags with no folding or care at all, <deleted>?? In the states they carefully fold the items and put them in the bag. Oh well, can't have it all! I hope things get better when I can actually speak some Thai.

Ha! When you learn to speak Thai you will be able to understand them being rude about you. Then not only will your clothes be creased but your ego bruised to boot. Maybe better not learn Thai.

It may be because in Thailand people will iron clothes before they put them on, whereas in many other countries it is not so. Also, in BKK non-Thais may be paying the price for the hordes of uncouth farang tourists with bad attitude.

My experience has been that a smile and body language experssing a need for assistance goes a long way.

Eh? People in most countries iron clothes before putting them on. It's definitely not a Thai thing.

Probably just shoved the clothes in the bag because it's a supermarket- I've noticed in Big C or Lotus they tend just to give it a fold and shove it in, unlike clothes shops where they will fold your clothes properly- you get what you pay for thumbsup.gif

It shouldn't matter that the clothes were creased in the bag. You wouldn't wear them without a wash first, surely. Do you know how much chemical and dust is contained in the new clothes on the peg? Eeeek!
