Rrrright, after a brawl with a couple of local island mafiosi Thai youngsters in a disco who sexually harrassed Hannah and who after that followed them, a foreigner stepped in for no whatsoever reason and asked two of the asian gangsters to kindly lend him a hand and please rape the poor girl for him, so the asian DNA would provide him the needed alibi so he could smash the victims skulls in with a garden hoe and get away with it, because his motive was what? Yeah, right... because that foreigner was feeling sorry for the poor mafia youngsters since they have lost face in the bar brawl, where David most likely protected Hannah from their dirty sticky fingers, and that foreigner just felt the need to put things back in perspective for the island guys and get a bit of splatter action in return!?!?

Was obvious from the very start that the true killers were influential enough to buy their way out of it, the police corrupt enough to accept the bribe, a submissive "witness" in desperate need for money waiting to magically "appear", and the patsy most likely was framed from day one onwards, travelling with a yet undetected payload in his backpack that might cost him his life. Wouldn't be surprised if some unfortunate Koh Tao backpacker will be singled out at Bkk aiport, his bags being searched and voila! Hannah's underwear and telephone magically appear right in front of hundreds of now to be witnesses, while the customs people proudly smile into the cameras, holding up the evidence of which only they knew in what hidden side pocket or cavity of the backpack to search for, because their superior told them on the phone. Think of my words, I am almost sure it will run this way or at least in a similar fashion.

After the case turning cold now, but with undeterred media interest, most human are superficial enough to just want to have some face, some person to pin it on, so they can continue with their facebook selfies and shopping and forget about the unfortunate couple, named Hannah and David, brutally killed, with their skulls and faces smashed in, raped, left half naked and without any dignity on the beach of Koh Tao... This whole sharade is so mean, cruel and so damn wrong that it makes me sick to my stomach. Justice being served, in Thailand? My #$$!

Perhaps it is time for British authorities to have a word with the Thai Ambassador, and let him know in no uncertain terms that they expect a better result.

I understand your frustration but that conversation will never take place.

Nothing to be gained (no trading rights or rights to plunder natural resources of Thailand and too much effort) for the British officials vs too much superficiality and laziness on the Thai side. Nice pipe dream though...

IMHO this "asian" DNA was a load of old cobblers thrown to the media to impress them with Thailand's DNA processing skills. They felt safe to do so because the farang suspects had all been cleared, or at least those who had their DNA tested.

To have derived such accurate answers so quickly seems very dodgy. They know they have no farang suspects. So they probably don't even have complete DNA results for much yet. And yet they keep clearing people left and right.

Please look it up in a dictionary what the word foreigner means. A foreigner is someone who belongs to a country that is not your own.

It's primarily for a Thai audience (remember, we're v. much in the minority here). This is a country of people where 100% believe in ghosts and 99% believe there's power of talismans and will pay crystal ball gazers to predict their future.

What most likely the "official" story will be. The patsy they need to apprehend in a fashion similar to my post, somewhere in public, where "evidence" magically pops up in a body and bag search. I'd bet on the airport. Best media coverage guaranteed...
