overstayed my visa in thailand, paid, when can i go back?

Featured Replies

hello,

i overstayed my visa in thailand by quite a bit about a couple of weeks ago for a medical reason. basically i had to have emergency surgery for something that was pretty threatening and had to stay in thailand for follow up check ups, on IV for fluids, etc.. my doctor wrote me a "certification" as a pass but because I turned it in after instead of before my visa expired, i was penalized anyways and had to pay the fine. i did so with ease and they didnt heckle me at immigration or anything, just a smooth transaction and a receipt for the overstay payment. my question is, when can i return to thailand? i actually would like to return there in a couple of weeks for another week or two for business reasons but if im blacklisted because i overstayed last time, obviously that wont be an option. i was never told anything by immigration about any time frame in which i could return to thailand or any other consequences outside of the fee that i had to pay. i'm looking at my passport right now and it doesn't have a stamp that says "overstay" or anything like that, just simply the days in which i came and left. thank you for your time.

Should be no problem returning to Thailand as you were not deported. Indeed, you could have returned the same day you left after your overstay, lots of people have done so.

Keep a copy of your medical certificate in case a zealous immigration officer, on arrival, asks you the reason of your previous overstay.

That happened to me!!

OP doesn't even have an overstay stamp. Possibly he never got a receipt for the fine either.

I suspect he might not be recognizing the overstay stamp. It is normally just be small blue rectangular stamp in Thai with the number of days of overstay and amount of the fine paid.
