Tourist Visa Ext

Featured Replies

Ok Going to Penang 14-17Oct to get a Tourist Visa.

Not done one for some years, none in my current passport.

On entry back to Thailand will have air ticket out 59days after arrival but need another 30 days to get me to Jan, should I go chang wattana (with ticket to OZ 29days+)or go Sin or Kul & return visa exempt ?

Can't wait to turn 50 Jan

You don't really need a to show a ticket to enter Thailand, or to get a tourist extension.

Unless you're from a G7 country you get 15 days visa exempt by land, not 30. Beside that is a personal choice of cost/convenience.

Some guys have been posting they've needed an air ticket out to board a flight or asked on arrival.

Will be flying to Penang, I assumed it was 30days on arrival.

A tourist visa is 60 days, which can be extended by 30 days at immigration without a problem.

If you have a visa a return or onward ticket is not required. If you don't have a visa you need a ticket out within 30 days.

Immigration does not ask to see tickets when you apply for a 30 day extension of stay.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/493306-stricter-requirements-for-tourist-visa-applicants/

From 2011

Rules Seem to change frequently

just to keep farang on the hop

Wouldn't want any standardization now would we.

Thanks but i'll have a ticket out & change it later for trip to OZ via Singapore Jan'15.

That was for applying for tourist visas and reality never happened at many embassies or consulates. See Penang's requirements here. http://www.thaiembassy.org/penang/contents/files/services-20140508-110623-169095.pdf

We are talking about what the airline will want you to have for boarding or immigration will ask for on entry.

From: http://www.staralliance.com/en/services/visa-and-health/

"Visitors who are visa exempt but do not hold return/onward

tickets could be refused entry."

Enter your info and you will see the same thing.

Thanks for that, We'll see what happens

As we all know what is written on paper does not

always mean so, some consulates/staff feel obliged to make their own rules.

Have ticket anyway I'll change it on return

Thanks
