Daily deep thought.

Lately the traffic lights in and around Nathon haven't been working and by gum, traffic works! Every time those lights work you are stuck there watching........nothing.

Personally, I think the only two lights on the ring road should be at Lotus in Chaweng and at the entrance to Bophut.

Never had an issue at the blinking yellow or completely off lights but at the lights you get cutters and badgers and people using the turn lane to just jump ahead of traffic, really, that can't be all that safe?

Add your thoughts or feel free to flame away, I am wearing Nomex today.

OP, near where I live there is a town called Chonabot.

Chonabot, has got 2 traffic lights, that work between 7.30 and 9.30 in the morning and 3.00 to 5.00 in the afternoon.

The lights are about 100 meters apart, on a straight road, covering the 2 crossroads they have.

The magic thing is that when the 1st lights turn green the other one turns red.

That creates a havoc with congestion........but nobody in our police department up here has any brains to adjust these lights.

I can imagine what is happening elsewhere were they have to deal with more lights.

I would say more than just lately.... months now, but it seems to work... although could be more of a nightmare during rush hours in the morning and afternoon, but I generally try to avoid traveling in some areas at those times!

It could be on the Nathon area road, because of the now almost finished road works to Hau Thanon or just because it is slow season..?. The ones in LIpa Noi turning not in use either...

Seems to me, they don't use them much of the year.

One thing that surprises me and nice to see, in the Bophut section of road between BP lights and Tesco area, that people, often show courtesy enough to stop on the main road and let people off and into the side roads thumbsup.gif

The lights at Soi 4 in Maenam, with the stupid advance green arrow light, that is always on.. should be changed!... that's the most confusing one of all .... facepalm.gifblink.png

Except Safari convoys who join the road 3 at a time from Soi maple leaf or the old monkey theatre road with no thought whatsoever for anyone's safety inc their own!

Well those guys are a breed of there own! .... although I have noticed since that last accident, some of them have slowed down on Soi 5, Maenam .... at least for now!

Police, for their share of the cut, set the red lights to benefit the vendors. It is not unusual to see 100 vehicles burning gas whilst they wait for a single hand cart to slowly make its way across the junction.
