HUA HIN: -- Several housing estates in Hua Hin municipal area were hit by flash flood today following several houses of heavy downpours since Monday night.

More than 100 housing units in Pong Naret, Royal Home and Country Hill housing estates which are located in Soi Hua Hin 102 which is a low-lying area were under water 80-100 cm deep prompting residents to move their belongings to higher ground and to move their cars and motorbikes to elsewhere.

It was reported that Soi Hua Hin 102 has already experienced three floodings this year.

Troops from Thanaratbarrack and border patrol policemen with flat-bottom have been despatched to the three flooded housing estates to help the affected residents at the request of the mayor, MrNoppornWutthikul.

The mayor said that the flooding in the three housing estates was caused by drainage problem which could not drain excess water fast enough.

Water pumps were later installed to drain floodwater out of the housing estates.

Well the Thais always seem to think a flood is a great event.

I can remember the 2010 floods in Korat, their homes were washed with a meter of stinky water and they all seemed to think it was all a bit of fun.

I didn't.

Well RustBucket, I think you are very wrong. The majority of the Thai people who get their homes ruined by flooding isn´t so amused as you say. I think your comment smells rasism in a large scale.
