Pattaya is a cool place because of people like this guy. Pattaya is a colourful place, despite basically being a large retirement home. This man dresses as he pleases, lives his life as he likes. People such as him make us Pattaya, a town that has pulse, and not a village in north east.

He is the opposite of retired postman from Perth, too scared to even make an eye contact with fellow foreigner in Pattaya!

Expats with no options, no money to move back and enjoy remaining years in homeland, because the property here cant be sold, and even if sold, it wont buy anything in Western Europe, USA. To these people Sharky is a poster boy, who to direct their suppressed anger at.

Other group of commenters see this as outrageous, and typical lack of justice in this country. They admire Sharky for simply being aman making an effort, being a man to have guts to stand up to the system, alltho ill advised. This is something un heard of here, this simply does not happen here. This is huge! Wont end well, but thats what makes me admire this man even more! I wouldn't dare, of this Im sure.

But you, K K top them all, you would deport the man cos you do not aprove his looks. He isnt my type either, but issue here is corruption, lawlesness, and as foreigners being at complete mercy of that corrupt system. This is not about what the man looks like.

Can someone who understands Thai culture more than me explain this? Why didn't they just arrest Sharky? They wouldn't lose face by arresting him, so what do they get out of this photo op? I see Sharky has saved some face, but I don't see how the Pattaya police benefit.

If he did not have over 100 000 followers and access to international media, they probably would have done it, but with all the spotlight he is capable of bringing, its too hard.

However i do believe some gold and cash would be recovered shortly, again for the same reason of face saving and to show how honest and hard working police really are.

There's no rule of law in Thailand--I'm sure they could arrest him for anything they want.

But I think you're right--Sharky made a loud ruckus and it became impossible to brush him under the rug. Seriously, say what you want about this guy, but he definitely is street smart.

A bunch of undercover Thai cops robbed him and tried to set him up for drugs.

Not many of us would survive that situation.

Sharky is my hero now.

Hopefully there are one or two decent cops that will assist him now and clean out the criminals at Soi 9 Police Station.

I do not ask for fun activities to be punished or banned. I do not preach hatred or contempt of Thais or Thailand. I do not always side with bullying authoritarianism. I do not knee jerk react with pleasure to the victims of petty law practised by corrupt officials. There are far too many on this forum whose self hatred is projected on to the world around them which happens to be Thailand. Wow what did Niels Colon give him......valium or did someone give him his dummy back!! anyway what a complete turn around of events......hes gone from saying(ranting) what a bunch of corrupt thieving w ankers the BIB are then we see a lovely smiling photo op with the enemy and then only good words about them and believes they are trying there hardest to catch the corrupt cops(there friends) that may have planted drugs or stole his money/gold.... so they only have to say they will look into there colleagues(friends) actions and hes as happy as larry............so really was just a big misunderstanding and the BIB are actually not corrupt or lazy or etc etc as stated by him many times before.......something very strange has happened as a total so called by himself anti establishment rebel has now completely turned around and theres no sign of the gold/money yet unless he has secretly been promised he will get it back if he shuts up now... then i could understand the change but even in that case hes a hypocrite....if thats not the case and hes not been promised or got it back already then i would say hes a total hypocrite and full of shit pretending to be this one man army and hes rolled over and joined the game..............this new job seems to be working with the BIB or the BIBS farang runaround boy Niels Colon,in that case we might see him in one of those nice Volunteer uniforms in walking st soon!.....good luck with the new career.
