Phuket Visa Run, Or Flight To Singapore

Featured Replies

MY wife and I are currently in Phuket, then flying to Bangkok on 30th November until 16 December. We are here on a 30 day excempt visa, as with our travelling prior to landing in Thailand, time restraints prevented us obtaining a 60 day tourist visa. Our 30 days runs out on 2 nov.

Does anyone know if we can still drive up to Ranong for a 15 day extension, or do we need to fly out to Singapore or KL, then re-enter with another 30 day transit excempt visa. If so, do we need to stay in Singapore overnihgt, or can we catch a flight later in the day? I don't fancy going to KL, as it is in the middle of nowere.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for that.

I was under the inpression from my various confussed readings, that the extension from Imigration was for only 10 days???

However 10 days would help, then we just pay the fine for 4-5 days overstay???

LIK is correct, extensions are for 30 days. So no need at all for any kind of visa run.

Thanks, guys,

That is a great help. I did not fancy an extra flight, let alone the extra cost. I will go into immigration for the extension. The 1900 B is actually cheaper that obtaining a 60 day tourist visa in Australia, where we tried.

Much appreciate your help.

''KL is in the middle of nowhere'! Where do you get that idea from OP? Malaya is a lovely country and well worth a visit.

"K.L. in the middle of nowhere" what a BS. Malaysia is NOT a 3rd world country like amazing Thailand. Better Google and read facts before posing nonsense.

Malaya ceased to exist over 50 years ago.

Point taken! A bit of 'old world nostalgia' kicking in there. Still a great country though, even with a name change. But hey, aren't we 'off topic' again!

This forum has some great advice, and some pedantic individuals replying. Should I have been more precise and said "KUL is in the middle of nowhere". In fact it is 55 Km away from KL, and for a 1 night stay, is considered in the middle of nowhere. We have in fact travelled the length and breadth of Malaysia, and stayed in KUL hotels. We are also returning to Malaysia for 5 days next month, so being forced to stay at KUL overnight, is not a desirable option at this stage. So I feel rudeness is totally unecessary. Thank you to those who kindly gave me the info I required.

Maybe back to the land of OZ for you. Dude you don't bring hamburger to steak dinner Doh!!!!

Strangebrew, you seem to have difficuilty reading, let alone between the lines, before you spout off. Your comment soulds very much like that of an Okker, which I am not, but just happened to be in that country travelling where I applied for a tourist visa.

I thought that while you apply for an extension, it would be denied and you end getting only 7 day extension. When did things change?
