I spotted an interesting article in Thai Rath over the week end, the gist of which I summarize below for the benefit of those who cannot read Thai.

"After the Koh Tao murders a crazy conspiracy developed with a view to making Thai people bitterly hate Thai police. They have repeatedly incited their friends to believe that Thai police looked for Burmese scapegoats to get forced confessions. After the dust had settled and the social media idiots all returned to America, it turned out after 3 DNA tests that the police were right.

Scotland Yard and the British Ambassador, who spent a long time engrossed in the case, asked to see all the details of the DNA tests of 300 people on Koh Tao and the taking of samples. All the Scotland Yard aunties and the British ambassador were so impressed that they asked the Thai police to come to the UK to train their own police. Even more important than the praise heaped on Thai police by the Brits was their admission that the Thai police used more advanced equipment and techniques in the investigation than their own.

Once the imaginative fantasies are over, hopefully people will stop criticizing Thai police."

Words fail me....................my fear is that if this is what the authorities are influencing the Thai Rath to report then its obvious that they have no intention to change course in this and the B2 are destined to pay no matter what

Thai journalism is akin to Thai politics - propaganda, hogwash, bare faced rubbish and embarrassing.
What Condescending tripe that makes a farce and scapegoats mind you of the Brits and the Yanks.
What did the yanks do in all this by the by? Their involvement seems to have been lost on me.

The clueless old bints at work read that paper, and they are as xenophobic a people I've met since moving to Thailand. Actually getting a flavour of what they churn out explains quite a lot. Just wonder how much the rank and file Thais buy into it, I mean some of the lies are incredible. Non English speaking Thai cops going to the Uk to train the UK cops.
I didn't know whether to actually laugh or cry, If there are many more gems like that then do share away

Just like some know for sure there is no god and afterlife, whilst others know for sure there is.

How do you know for sure - your infallible gut feeling? You must win a lot of lotteries then.

Innocent or guilty - people can have opinions but very very few really know what happened on that terrible night. And they ain't posting the details on TVF, or FB for that matter.

Belief in God and the afterlife is based on faith not evidence and I would never question another man's faith.

I never buy lottery tickets in thailand as it is run by corrupt officials. IMO

I know for sure that the B2 are innocent based on evidence and lack of evidence the RTP should have and don't. For example lack of CCTV showing the movements of the guilty parties. Lack of CCTV showing Nomsod whereabouts. One clip with a incorrect time stamp is not enough to clear him. Any of us who have spent any length of time here probably have first hand experience of police corruption so trusting the DNA is out of the question. So no it is not my gut feeling that tells me these 2 are innocent it is evidence and lack of credibility of the prosocutions case.

Have you seen all the evidence yourself?

If you want to belief "facts" posted by what was previously an obscure facebook sight, declared a rumor mill by this site then fine. That;s where you've seen your 'evidence" isn't it, social media?

That's the problem with corruption and constant lying - the truth can be right in front of you and no one will know. I'll wait for the trial, if there is one, and more importantly the British police report.

Pornpen Khongkachonkiet, who also sits on the NHRC subcommittee, said the suspects had been detained around October 1 and 2, but her team first met them on October 13..

Torture will be very hard to prove.

One thing that wont be. is the fact the police took these suspects to a secret location, not a police station, to be tortured interrogated. Against Thai law. The suspects were also denied their right to counsel during their torture interrogation and for nearly 2 weeks after. Also against Thai law.

Its not hard to figure out why the police broke these laws now is it.

According to Thai law?? cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Suspects who can't understand Thai are also entitled to choose their own interpreter, if the agree to talk to police at all. Informed suspects often elect to tell police they will only testify in court but there doesn't seem to be a clear Miranda rights law.

Whether or not these two Burmese guys are innocent, or guilty of the crime they are charged with, there is no place in a modern society for any form of torture to be inflicted upon them.

The modern world has laws that make this kind of treatment to people an illegal, and immoral act.

Thailand would do well to consider if it wishes to be a participant in a modern world, or to become a pariaha state similar to N, Korea, and have the countries reputation dragged through the mire at every available opportunity.

International Business leaders will surely be asking whether they will want a " Made in Thailand " label on their goods very soon, and the rebuttal of the Human Rights Sub Committee will only make this situation speed along to a point whereby the country will suffer as business,s pull out, not wishing to be associated with the country, especially as Thailand is no longer as competative as other nations in SE Asia.

If the perps of the alleged torture are innocent of this henus crime, then let them come forward and be accounted for, not just for the possible crime, but for the damage they are doing to there beloved country.

The second paragraph - honestly, is this a joke? My blood pressure has reached boiling point!

You mention North Korea, how correct you are:

"The Education Minister and the North Korean Ambassador to Thailand mutually agreed that the education systems of both countries are rather similar and plan to develop ties by educational exchanges."

If the internet and social media had been around during the time Ruben "Hurricane" Carter was falsely convicted the outcome could have been completely different. At that time blacks were burmese equivalents in america.

"Rubin "Hurricane" Carter (May 6, 1937 – April 20, 2014) was an American middleweight boxer who was wrongly convicted of murder[1] and later freed via a petition of habeas corpus after spending almost 20 years in prison."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubin_Carter

I strongly recommend the movie "Hurricane" with Denzel Washington playing Carter.

The catch phrases around here are LOS, TIT, Thainess etc... but I can't get Ed Carabao out of my head singing that egregious song "Made in Thailand". This is obviously a complete and utter urine-take.

But has any of this torture been proved yet? we always cry out for proof, but is this hear say by the 2 BB, or is there proof of this?

The Human Rights Commission has stated there was, the RTP have refused 4 times to meet them and discuss it. Even if no hard proof then the likelyhood is high

BANGKOK: -- Two Myanmar men facing charges of murdering British tourists on Koh Tao were tortured, according to the ongoing probe by a subcommittee of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

If police representatives fail to show up today to provide explanations on the alleged torture, the subcommittee will conclude its probe that way and report the issue to the NHRC.

That will be 5 times unless they turned up today, does anybody know if they did?

This is not proof, it is hear say until proven, can the torture be proved, and the BIB do not have to turn up for any meeting, whilst there is an on-going investigation in to a crime that they are involved in, and they can submit what ever they think, but with no proof, or witnesses, they are pissing in the wind

The Thais will eat just about any part from any animal...

Duck beak

Egg with half grown foetus inside

Chicken feet

Live shrimp

Raw beef and blood...

And a lot of that stuff is damned tasty...

But if the general public swallow that tripe/horse shit about the British police bowing down and lauding the Thai police and their technology; I am sorry but that crosses into whole new dimensions of idiocy, naivety and stupidity...

"... People who have been there tell us that in fact security cameras were widely available but after the crimes happened, no one knew where recordings from those cameras are."

And what's with the interrogation videos and phone logs?
Understandable that the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has some questions.

They said if the RTP no-show, then their guilt is assumed... so hopefully some recourse occurs. Where is banana pancake translation service at the moment... did he do a runner? Time to turn the tables. These boys will walk I reckon, but if further arrests are made that will determine Thailand's true intentions. I'm not hopeful. These threads need constant bumping by the way. They have to stay first page.
