Within 3 years after starting to play i became a 18 handicapper. Good short game but not a longhitter. Average drive around 220 yards.

Then came that moment....that only moment where i thought...yes....i've got it, i can i can....

Blue Canyon Lakes course, hole nr 13...Par 5, around 515 yards from blue tee.

Tee shot uphill somewhat, drove it, and felt good, near the big tree on the fairway....i thought ...wooowwww thats a hell of a shot for me. Eventhough there were people putting on the green i hit my 2nd shot, somewhat downhill, with a 3 wood. That 1 felt good as well. After a couple of seconds the caddy started to shout.....4 4 4. I looked at her like....are you crazy or what.....but she kept on shouting it...Well the result was that my ball stopped just on the green. I arrived at my ball and felt proud of myself. Missed the eagle put ofcourse but made the birdie.

The 5 holes after i played crap and lost many balls but that feeling of those 2 shots......

What where the shot(s) you will never forget ?

A shot like that where I am gets the caddy 2 to 4 weeks unpaid holiday!

I understand....she, the caddy, saw my game in the previous 12 holes and was shocked as well when i hit the 3wood of my life.

The shot I will always remember was when I crested the hill after a tee shot to see the players ahead of me leaving the green. I normally find my drive at the crest of the hill with 130 yards remaining down hill to the green but on this occasion it had rolled on about thirty more yards. It was a mixed four-ball ahead and one player was gesticulating wildly so I went forward to apologise for what obviously had happened. I tried to apologise three times in the face of a torrent of vitriol and eventually gave up and returned to my ball. In the clubhouse afterwards no reconciliation was forthcoming so later I wrote a complaint to the Captain. Some days later the Captain asked me to confirm that I didn't wish to take the matter further since he had noted my complaint about the chaps behavior! In fact I was in error in driving off before a bell nearer the green had been rung to indicate that players were clear, and the players affected should have been writing a letter. Had the Captain done his duty and allowed people to be heard, he would have found against me, could have sanctioned me, restored harmony and the subsequent publicity would have done some good since such incidents are not uncommon on this hole. in fact a drive from the group following came past us as we continued playing the hole.

Ideally of course players should assume that the following players are not intent on causing injury or death, and accept an apology gracefully, then write a letter if they deemed it necessary. It was left to me to restore normal relations by talking to other members of the group, his wife and friends, in the knowledge that they would pass it on. Subsequently, when our paths crossed he did congratulate me on some success I had had in the Club Championships, so that I think that my efforts on the social side were successful.

Very often the cause of following ball coming close highlights the fact that you are playing slowly because of searching and can be taken as mockery and creates the imperative to make too much of these incidents.

Reminds me of a T shirt I was saw on a course in Aus:

I'd be ecstatic with a 220 yard drive. I use the 1 wood on every hole except two of the 4 par 3s at Soi Dao where I use the 3 wood. Just sick of putting irons into the water. The shot I will remember is a hole in one on a short par 3 in Aus and here it is a perfect sliced drive onto a par 3, arriving between two bunkers and bouncing to an 8 foot birdy putt which I managed

My 2 favourite shots were on a Par 3 at Eastern Star, I believe it's the 3rd hole, and it's not a hard hole by any means at about 165 yards slightly uphill to a fairly generous green. What made it so special is after having played with a slice (or controlled fade as some might call it smile.png) my whole life, after countless buckets of balls at the range I'd finally learned to trust myself to hit a draw of any size (from light to violent) and this Par 3 with the left side pin set itself up to perfectly for a high draw. 7 iron, put trust in all those practice balls, nice easy in to out swing, keep the head down through the shot, and it just got better and better by the millisecond as it flew through the air. My 2nd favourite shot was the 6 inch putt laugh.png .

What a truly great game golf is when any of us are capable of hitting better shots than the World #1. Just not as often!.

Plutaluang Navy Course. North hole 2, par 5, just before the signature lighthouse hole. Hit a good drive and had 230 yards left to the pin. Took out my brand new 3 wood and hit it straight into the cup. Nirvana!

Later in the clubhouse I tried to get find out if I could get my name on some kind of plaque or similar but no one had heard of an albatross before.sad.png

Almost beggars belief that Navy men have not heard of an albatross 55
