SmartRail Congress & Expo 2014

BANGKOK, 26 November 2014 (NNT) - Thailand is hosting the largest gathering of train and rail development professionals ever seen in Asia, running from 26th-28th November 2014, at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC), Bang Na.

The SmartRail Congress & Expo 2014 has brought together more than 40 trains and related railway operators from throughout Asia to meet, discuss and explore the economic, environmental, social, political and technological challenges of Asia’s development of rapid rail transport.

Thailand was chosen to be the venue as the kingdom is currently leading the way in Southeast Asia following the government’s announcement of a US$93 billion infrastructure development plan. In addition Bangkok’s plans for 14 metro lines and the establishment of an ASEAN central station in the midst of the city, make it the ideal host for this mass transportation industry gathering.

In the exhibition, at BITEC in Bangkok, innovations from around the world provide first hand exposure to the cutting-edge solutions that will support the transformation of Asia’s rail networks. The technology showcase is supported by an international conference and also an ‘Innovation Seminar’ located inside the event hall itself.

The SmartRail Congress & Expo 2014 is also hosting more than seventy key speakers from major rail projects across South East Asia. They include senior representatives of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy, SRT, BMA, the Land Transport Authority Singapore, SMRT, LPTC Malaysia, the East Japan Railway Group, the Toll Royal Cambodia Railways, Indian Railways, Dubai Metro, BTS, KORAIL, the Ministry of Railways Pakistan, the Manila Metro Rail Transit Development Corporation, Myanmar Railways, SNCF, and MRTA.
