DSI chief orders probe after its officials involved with bribe-taking gang

28-11-2557-11-07-54-wpcf_723x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The chief of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has ordered the appointment of a fact-finding committee to probe into allegations that some DSI officials were involved in bribe-taking from oil smuggling which the former commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has been engaged in.

DSI director-general Mrs Suwana Suwanjuta said she has signed the order to appoint the committee to look into allegations that three DSI officials have connection with the bribery gang and took bribes from major oil smuggler known as “Sia Jo” or Mr Sahachai Chiarasermsin, a well-known tycoon in the South.

Sia Jo was accused to have paid bribes to the former CIB bribery team.

She said if investigation found that they did take bribes as accused, then disciplinary action would be taken against them.

She said she also advised that the investigation should be completed as soon as possible so as to ensure justice for those accused and for transparency.

Meanwhile Justice Minister Gen Paiboon Khumchaya said he has ordered the DSI chief to investigate its officials in the South if they got involved in taking bribes from oil smugglers.

He also ordered to find out if DSI officials were linked to the bribery gang working under the former CSI chief.

If they did take bribes from oil smugglers, then they would be dealt with drastically by laws.

He said penalty could be retroactive if any DSI officials were proved to link to the oil smuggling business.

hypocritical bull, when will they start the investigations into bar owners and other night-time licenced business etc having to pay monthly fees to these parasites (and that includes the military that also take monthly payments).....the system is totally corrupt and as usual sweet FA will happen, just take a strole along sukhumvit after 10pm and see all the pavement bars ...that must be fully licenced etc as required by law (alcohol licence, entertainment licence, music licence, cigarette licence and the required toilets for a business that is for entertainment use)

Thailand is corrupt and always will begiggle.gif

Have faith, things are changing with our interim government, maybe not as fast as you would like, but they are changing. Just look at the track record of the achievements in just a few months, and compare it with the track changes of the past governments achievement’s in a few years. Big difference isn’t it?

I really don't think there is much difference......more likely a "Big Facade".......

Having faith is admirable and you seem to feel like that there will be change. So far there is little or no change from this perspective. To justify waiting I feel 6 months there should be radical change or it is all talk and no action. I could write a long list of what could change and the process could start overnight. many posters have mentioned here so many times.

Please explain here 'the track record of achievements in a few months'?

It's all still a bit "one-sided" at the moment, and as and when non-Thaksin affiliated "thieves" or people within the Military are also arrested and prosecuted then I'll start cheering. Until then, it's a case of welcome to the new boss, same as the old boss.

rolleyes.gif Yes, because Pheu-Thai busted a lot of very senior public figures for huge corruption scams like this didn't they ?.

Of course it might be that the worst of the corruption at the highest level just happens to be linked directly with Mr T and the red-shirts because they are by far the dirtiest of them all.

The Thai PM seems be unable to provide follow up enforcement to his directives.

A couple of examples are :

  1. Taxis in Samui will use meters. They do not use meters !
  2. Beach chairs and food vendors will be removed from Public places. They still occupy large areas of Pattaya and Jomtien beaches.

He started off with great intentions but I think he has come up against the "established corrupt systems" and " local Mafia groups" that he can not beat.

Rather sad!

It's a small difference, but at least a positive one. Much, much, much more is needed.

What a poor existence you must lead. Do you frequent these so called illicit establishments that you're on about, where you drink all day and the spew out your venom after you've had a gutful? Seem to have a lot of so called insider knowledge. You're making some vey spurious allegations. If you reside in Thailand just remember what has been said about making such statements. You can be easily tracked by authorities and for clowns like you it would be bitter sweet to see you put in your place.

Can't read or just plain ignorant and one sided. You want one, then I'll give you one. The farmers being paid for their rice after the previous government lied, lied and lied as to when they would be paid, and in the end never delivered. But then when noting your dribble I don't think you REALLY comprehend the meaning of the word achievement. Want another? Stopped the killings of innocents by political activists or not REAL enough for you? There are a number of others but you in your rose coloured glasses are blinded to some of the good that has occurred and are only interested in your own propaganda so I will not elaborate further.

One of the election promises of the PTP government under Yingluck before they were elected was a crackdown on corruption. They have over THREE tears and did you see ANY difference during that time?

LG, I would generally have to agree with you. I might be willing to grant them a few extra months, due to the lag time of getting things set up and functioning. However, one would expect that by this point we would have seen a few BIG heads on the dung heap by now, and not just those from one side of the fence. Still waiting. And probably will be for the foreseeable future.

Yes Bill there definitely was a difference.

In the main thrust of her crackdown on corruption Yingluck cut the budgets of the NACC, the OAG and other checks and balances groups, she also proposed an amnesty that as well as absolving herself and her brother from any corruption would have forgiven over 25,000 cases of corruption that were already before the NACC.

So there, completely logical, if you forgive all corruption it no longer exists.

Crackdown complete.

Oh, I see - the DSI will investigate corruption allegations within.........the DSI.

Yep, can see that working out just fine.......................

Have you not noticed the DSI is now under new management ?

The former head has now been sent packing to his "resort" which is said to be encroaching on forest land.

Perfectly reasonable that the new boss would want to weed out those who are involved in the bribe taking now being investigated.

A good start appears to have been made, but I'll start believing that things are really getting better when some big names that aren't associated with a certain ex-Prime Minister are taken down.

Presumably when you post that you have proof that all those who are being 'taken down' are associated with a certain ex PM.

Would be nice if you would post that proof so we can all be sure you are correct.

Oh, and 'everybody knows' wont cut it.
